What topics/issues do you like or want to read about?

If you love fiction, what makes a great fiction book?

message 2: by Susan (new)

Susan | 12 comments I really like historical fiction or fiction in different locales. I really enjoy fiction that takes place in the deep south with quirky characters. A bit of intrigue is a nice touch , don't you think?

Have you read any books by Julie Cantrell or Kathy Herman? Both great Southern settings!

message 4: by Mojoboy31 (new)

Mojoboy31 | 18 comments I like fiction mostly. I'll read pretty much any genre, though I prefer YA most of the time.

message 5: by Susan (new)

Susan | 12 comments No, I will add to ever growing to read list. I enjoyed the Green series by Judy Christie.

Mojoboy31 | 18 comments If you like historical fiction, then I'd recommend: Healer (The Brides of Alba #1) by Linda Windsor

It's takes place in like 6th century Scotland. Linda Windsor really knows her stuff, and her research is ridiculous!

I loved Into the Free! I am so eager to get to the sequel.

I actually liked the sequel, When Mountains Move, even more! Do you read print or ebooks? :) Both?

LOVE Scotland!
For a modern day Scottish tale, check out

Five Days in Skye.

Glad to hear that! I've got high hopes for it :)

I read both print & ebooks. I probably read more print books than ebook, but almost always have one in progress on my Kindle for the gym, etc.

Five Days in Skye was awesome! I loved it :)

message 12: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) To answer the question of the post, I read more historical fiction, but read other genres too. For me, if I love the character, I can overlook a slower plot, etc. So I guess I prefer character-driven reads.

Mojoboy31 | 18 comments Read the description for Five Days In Skye... Sounds like a hallmark movie (in a good way) lol!

Yes, it's definitely a more romantic story. ;)

Susan, you might like my upcoming, debut novel from Cook, releasing 3/1/14! It's set on a pecan farm in the very southwest part of Alabama, near Mobile Bay. It's a little bit Southern Gothic, and a whole lot of redemption, and there are a few quirky characters in it, too! How Sweet the Sound by Amy K. Sorrells

OK, I may be biased, but Amy's book has one of the most beautiful covers I've ever seen!

message 17: by Rebecca "Rebaka" (new)

Rebecca "Rebaka" Lewis (becca4ever) | 2 comments I like fiction that gets me involved with the characters, whether its historical, Amish, or mystery. I know that fiction is just that, fiction, but its good to just pick up a book and be transported to another moment. Being single I know that a lot of fiction romances aren't reality based but its always nice to dream:)

I have read several non fiction books that I have also enjoyed very much.

So to ask what kinds of books I like?-I have to just say books.

Of course you didn't ask for all of this but I'm just in one of my moods. Sorry everyone.

Amy, your book is on my to-read list too! I have to agree with Renada that the cover is so eye-catching. Really compels me to want to read it! :)

Susan | 12 comments Thank you, Amy. On my list now. I read print and ebooks. I just can't give up the feel of a book. I have a silly method, I read one or two ebooks and then 1 or 2 print. I also do not like reading series out of order.

You're further along than I am. I work on our web marketing team and I have to admit I haven't even converted to "the dark side" yet ;) Love the feel of a real book! Sorry, Renada, had to be honest, haha.

As for me, I like to read Christian nonfiction, topics that make me think, that challenge me, yet meet me where I am in my walk with God.

Glad I'm not the only one who uses your "silly method." Thanks for sharing!

Rebecca "Rebaka" Lewis (becca4ever) | 2 comments I usually have 2 books going at the same time. One on iPhone/Kindle and the other print. Usually different genre though. Right now I'm reading an Amish on my portable device and a great devotional by Anita Higman in print.

message 23: by Susan (new)

Susan | 12 comments Rebecca, I do that also, one genre on ebook, another in print. I especially like to do that when a book is larger than 400 pages.
