Folks, I have been remiss about keeping these stats up for myself. I have been quite busy getting the group site up to date, moderating and keeping things going.

by
Larry Collins
Finish Date: 2014
Genre: Nonfiction
Rating: A- (personal stories), B- (Writing Style), A- (Informative), B- (Neutrality in Reporting - they did have favorites)
Review: Exceptional book - B+/A- overall - It was tough to really rate this book because I enjoyed it tremendously despite some of its warts.
Would recommend this highly for anybody wanting to know more about the partition of India and want to enjoy the journey while doing so. It was not Tolstoy but it did not have to be.

by
Irène Némirovsky
Finish Date: 2014
Genre: Novel
Rating: C+
Review: Just not my cup of tea - but this novel has won many awards including - Magnesia Litera for Translation (Litera za překladovou knihu) (2012), Prix Renaudot (2004), PEN Translation Prize (2007), French-American Foundation Translation Prize for Fiction (2006)
And a word about the author:
Irène Némirovsky (born February 11, 1903, Kiev, died August 17, 1942, Auschwitz, Poland) was a Jewish novelist and biographer born in the Ukraine, who lived and worked in France. -
More:
I wonder whether the author if she had lived would have rewritten parts of the book and I was curious as to who the audience was who this was written for. It left me with mixed feelings about a lot of things - including the poor author and what happened to her. This book has received rave reviews - I am just not one of them. However, it was a good book and one which others have and might find relevant and important. The author did have a lot of talent and her death was a great loss like so many others.
