Mankind came into existence whenever the youngest of the Acrors, Estin, grew angry at a kingdom of her brother's, Fairren's, creations. Legend has it that men came to be when a kingdom of elves was cursed with mortality. This legend would be correct, Estin having plagued the kingdom with a curse. Over the generations the cursed race changed ever so slightly, their senses lowering, ears shortening, height lessening, and magic dwindling. Eventually the race known as Mankind was created. It was forgotten after centuries elapsed that humans derived from Elves, and soon enough issues between the races began to emerge.

With the loss of immortality came a loss of certain graces, patience, and other valued aspects. Men were became known as the irrationally headstrong, yet determined species. They would take strides towards greatness and never give up, many accomplishing more in their short lives than an elf would in three human life times. When one only has long to live, he treasures life vastly more and tries to make the most of it. But when one knows he has a deadline, it can also drive him to do reckless things to make a name for himself.

Often of times, the race is referred to as a 'weaker' race that cave to the smallest of temptations. They tend to be drawn to power and obsess over 'petty' things. Throughout history, these lower traits of humans have brought disrespect towards their race from many others. However, through thick and thin, the humans have some how managed to survive, collect the shattered pieces of whatever remained of their lives, and rebuild. After so many years of striving, mankind has finally even managed to gain their own era of rule.

Humans have the capability of performing magic. There is only one way to become 'magical' as a human. One way is for an Elf to 'unlock' the ability and offer a small amount of magic to the mortal. It's not extremely common to see humans with this sort of magic. It's a purer sort of magic that can be better harnessed with practice that the second way. Elves are not always required to learn how to do magic. Some humans, however, are born with a bit of magic in them. These humans are termed as witches or warlocks generally. Their magic tends to be a bit more darker, even if the person is not dark. The magic draws from the magic that men used to have eons ago when they were Elves. But since that part of them was cursed, the magic residue is also tainted and dark.

Humans with magical abilities are, indeed, allowed to be made :). We prefer that not all of the humans are magically inclined, but we would also hate for no one to take the chance to make a magical human.

Halflings

Halflings are rather looked down upon by most considering they are a mix of Elvish and Human kind. This is not a common occurrence considering most Elven kind are too restrictive to allow themselves to be involved with a human. Humans are mortal and would be lost to time, whereas the elf would have to live on. So loving someone who is guaranteed to age is defiantly a no go for Elves. However, in some rare causes, the species do get mixed with one another.

Halflings tend to favor one parentage over the other. So they will either look like a human or look more like an Elf. Most of the halflings hold the ability to do magic, but are not as good with control as an Elf would be. They are immune to many human diseases, but not all of them, and they tend to age rather slowly once puberty is reached. Halflings can live anywhere between the ages of five hundred and a thousand years of age. Their senses are a bit above humans.

[more info maybe to come on these subspecies]
