Read a book where individual words or letters in the title are at least 2 different colors on the cover. Shades of color count as one color. The two colors must appear in the title. Subtitles do not count. Required: Include the cover when you post.
Ex: Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick This Is Not a Test Stories of Disaster by Students of the School for Democracy and Leadership in New York 11th Hour (Women's Murder Club, #11) by James Patterson

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11182 comments These won't work:

Touch Blue by Cynthia Lord - need 2 different colors
Heat by Geneva Holliday Dreams Underfoot by Charles de Lint - outlines don't work, individual words or letters must be different colors
Welcome To Rosie Hopkins' Sweetshop Of Dreams by Jenny Colgan - authors & subtitled do not count. Letters in the title must be different colors.

No, sorry, Kathy. It needs to be two different colors. I'll clarify that in the task description.

Julie If anyone likes Patterson, NYPD Red (NYPD Red, #1) by James Patterson is a good choice!

I haven't seen a list specifically for this, but if you go to your GRs shelves (or those of someone with a lot of books) and click on the four squares on the right-hand side you'll get a bunch of book covers.

There you go! Any of those will work.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Can I get a ruling on this one?

Velveteen vs. The Junior Super Patriots (Velveteen vs., #1) by Seanan McGuire

It seems a little different than the other examples, since each individual letter is two colors (yellow and purple). If it doesn't work for that reason, I'll find somewhere else to slot it, but figured it was worth asking.

Since the yellow is much more substantial than just an outline, I'll take it. When you post the books for points, though, please mention that it was approved in the help thread so that DLMRose doesn't have to rethink it.

message 30: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 240 comments Here are some I found on my shelves.

Alif the Unseen by G. Willow Wilson - The Canadian and Australian editions also look to have two colors in the title.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling - Most of the original Harry Potter covers (both from the US and the UK) work for this. The only ones that don't are the U.S. Order of the Phoenix and the UK Deathly Hallows.

I think these are all okay:
Scarlet Moon A Retelling of "Little Red Riding Hood" (Once Upon a Time) by Debbie Viguié Zombies The Recent Dead by Paula Guran Deep Economy The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future by Bill McKibben Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass Master of None (Gavyn Donatti, #1) by Sonya Bateman Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien Metatropolis The Dawn of Uncivilization by Jay Lake Kushiel's Dart (Phèdre's Trilogy, #1) by Jacqueline Carey One Day by David Nicholls The Court of the Air (Jackelian, #1) by Stephen Hunt The Kingdom Beyond the Waves (Jackelian, #2) by Stephen Hunt The Very Little Princess by Marion Dane Bauer Cooking for Geeks Real Science, Great Hacks, and Good Food by Jeff Potter How We Believe Science, Skepticism, and the Search for God by Michael Shermer Supergods What Masked Vigilantes, Miraculous Mutants, and a Sun God from Smallville Can Teach Us About Being Human by Grant Morrison His Last Duchess by Gabrielle Kimm Everything I Know About Love I Learned from Romance Novels by Sarah Wendell Love in the Time of Global Warming (Love in the Time of Global Warming, #1) by Francesca Lia Block Carniepunk by Rachel Caine Getting Things Done The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen

Perdido Street Station (Bas-Lag, #1) by China Miéville - I think these are far enough apart to not be considered shades, I would call it yellow to orange!

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11182 comments Vicky wrote: "Here are some I found on my shelves..."

I would call Perdido Street Station (Bas-Lag, #1) by China Miéville yellow and orange, too, so that works. However, One Day by David Nicholls appears to be two shade of pink. The only other one that won't work is Zombies The Recent Dead by Paula Guran . Subtitles don't count and Zombies is all one color. Other than that, the other ones are great examples!

message 32: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 240 comments I knew I would miss one with a subtitle, lol!

My copy of One Day is definitely orange and pink, the image on GR is kind of faded. I don't want to change the image on GR to this one because it's a copy of a bent book and looks terrible - but here's another image from Amazon that shows the colors better.
