Review: I like shifter stories but not so much urban fantasy. This was both but heavy on the fantasy. This is the first book in a series which is obvious with the info dump we get. A lot of things are brought into this one like demons and the pacts they make with the human government, spells used to call demons, hellhounds... Our MCs were agents fighting against all sorts of creepy creatures. Only one of them is a creepy creature. It was an interesting take on all kinds of super natural beings that I haven't seen before but I felt the romance took a back seat and what we got was sort of Insta-Mates. Aaron was my favorite just because he had so much to deal with but I liked Tony with his quick wit and fun-guy persona also. Definitely worth taking a look at.

This was an entertaining and unique memoir written in the old choose your own adventure style. Some of the alternate endings were just too crazy to believe but they were still pretty funny. I have enjoyed NPH's work since his Doogie Howser days and it was interesting to learn more about his life and all of his accomplishments.

Review:
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster. I started off laughing and various times ended up in tears. The book hit so many great points with me for how a book should be written and leave you feeling richer for having read it at the end.
I loved it, the author manages to tie in the emotional and anxious times of being a teenager whilst dealing life's pressures and coming of age, sex ending up in team pregnancy, jealousy of school children and not fitting in to the mould, bossy parents, drugs and alcohol abuse.
The book also heavily featured cancer but for a refreshing change with books I have read lately the author managed to make it a joy to experience it and the characters feelings without making it all doom and gloom.....as someone who lost a parent a few months ago from this horrible disease it was a refreshing change for me.
Not Abby the main character (for those who read it this will become apparent) Chloe is brought up by foster parents after both her Mum and Aunt die from breast cancer, knowing she may also hold the gene she puts her life in hold and doesn't want to get close to anyone, until Blake Hunter appears as her night in shining armour and she just can't help herself falling! He has his own problems to face but together they prove love can conquer all!
Cake ~ They cheered just as Mom came out with a birthday cake. Loc 4274
Soldier ~ It made my son sound like a soldier, you know? Loc1267
Doctor ~ A Doctor walked in holding a clipboard. Loc 663
Towel ~ She was already out, one towel wrapped around her hair Loc 3770
Blanket ~ He’d set up a blanket, food, drinks, and a jar full of lollipops. Loc 4003

Review: I really liked this one but it didn't have the same "feels" as the first one. Even the emotions in this one were still about Adam...mostly. And I still love Finn the bestest! Here we have Adam's cousin Rico who was the golden boy growing up while Adam was constantly crapped on. We got to meet their mothers in this one and they were awful! Rico's mom came around but Adam's was a waste of space. We still had Darrin with his weirdo psychic stuff and Finn's fabulous family. All our old friends with our new romance. Can't wait for the next book. I'm thinking Ezra!

Had I read the full blurb for this book I probably wouldn't have read it as the subject matter is a little to close for comfort at this point in my life.
The book started off quite strangely and I have to admit I back tracked a few pages to see if I have missed something....I hadn't the story weaves in and out of various characters lives and I got slightly confused. It was quite long to, over 500 pages ;/
Another roller coaster of a book where the main character is battling cancer and falling in love all at the same time. A nice happy ending for a change but the book had me in floods of tears through.

brown - Arthur Myers was thin, with long brown hair p 25
silly - ...looking kind of silly in his tall brown hat, p 169

Review: This was the first of three books in the Alfred Kropp YA series. Alfred is fifteen and has had nothing but bad luck his entire life. He never knew his father and his mother dies of cancer when he's about thirteen. After being in and out of foster homes, he finally goes to live with his security guard uncle. His uncle is tricked into stealing the legendary sword of King Arthur, Excalibur, and talks Alfred into helping him. Alfred, after realizing the devastating effects of his part in stealing the sword, sets out to try to right his wrong by recovering the sword from the evil man who tricked them into stealing it. This is a good YA adventure story and is a good character study of a young man who has always been seen as a loser and underachiever as he becomes much more than anyone, especially himself, ever thought possible. Very enjoyable book!

This book was a fun read and had me laughing out loud a few times. Viv is a feisty heroine who loves to read romance novels and finds herself in the middle of one in her own life. Clark was pretty dull to me at first but I grew to like him as the book went on. I love Alice Clayton's humorous writing style and look forward to reading the rest of this series.

Review: This was a pleasant cozy mystery. Camryn Brooks has come home to run her adoptive parents' gift shop specializing in snow globes. Reuniting with old friends and finding her place in her hometown after several years away and of course, finding a body lead her to attempt to solve the homicide. The mystery is fairly weak but the characters are likeable. I'll probably read the next in the series.

This book was a nice blend of mystery and humor. I really liked Walt's character with all of his old-school ways and his feisty deputy, Vic, who keeps him on his toes. The Native American culture was interesting and the descriptions of Wyoming were well done. There were a few twists that kept me guessing "who did it" and I did not see that ending coming. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

My Review: I had no expectations when going into this book as I didn't even read the blurb. I'm actually glad I didn't so I was surprised it was about high school kids and that's not usually my favorite. However, I really, really liked this book. It was a very interesting look at HS kids who are super privileged, over indulged and basically just like every other kid. They drank too much, did too many drugs, had too much drama and were the "popular" group. And at first I couldn't decide if they were evil or not. Were they being "real" to Jared? I wasn't sure. I'm not sure I ever warmed up to the manipulating Clare but everyone else was great, especially Biggie. Jared was the new kid in town and Adam was from the oldest, richest family around. They started out with animosity, then moved to friendship, then onto love. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars was the lack of my sobbing.
High Heels: She gave them both a knowing smile and strode off in the direction of the stairs on extremely high heels. (Location 3256)
Moon: "You came from Michigan, not the freaking moon". (Location 139)
Police: "The police have made contact with Ms. Gordon's family". (Location 1430)
Arrow: A small hand reached across and pressed the down arrow, slowing the machine. (Location 2288)
Valley: It was only from the back that it became clear there was a valley in the between the rocks and the building. (Location 793)

Read: 9/5/14

Review: This is a hard one to rate because it's her first book and I know they get so much better. However, I just couldn't give it more than 3 stars because it was kind of all over the place. There was too much brand name dropping and too many inconsistencies in the writing. Obviously not the same editor she had now. The story (or stories) were entertaining though. Yes, there was insta love but it was sweet and the smexing was pretty hot. This one really couldn't be skim read at all because there were so many things going on it would be easy to get lost in all the action! I thought it was fun.
My favorite error...Everyone loved her because she was several feet shorter than all the firefighters... What?!? How tall was this lady? 3 feet? lol

Review:
To say this book was 396 pages you couldn't tell it was a really nice easy read.
Josephine Walkers marriage is failing apart after she finds out her Husband has been cheating on her again. Wanting to do what is best for her and her two children she decides to start fresh. With the help of her best friend Matt she starts to get on with her life. It is quite obvious early on that there are feelings between the two of them and has been for some time. Wanting a bit of excitement in her life she decides to start a relationship with Matt and see what happens.
This is definitely cute, easy to read and you don't have to think about it. After reading a few heavy books lately this was a breath of fresh air.

Review: This is the second book in the Maisie Dobbs series, and I am loving this series. The setting is 1930 when Maisie takes on a job from a very successful businessman to find his missing daughter. As in the first book, the aftermath of WWI is prominent in the characters' lives. I love all the characters but especially Maisie and her assistant, Billy. A great story!
