Sorry I'm behind on noticing all our goals but I also don't know what has been used for goals & what hasn't. There is a birth scene in Euphoria. I don't have the book anymore so I need to search & find out where it was. There is also a picnic scene in Yellow Crocus, which I will find the location for that too.

Chris (cdavies1951) | 2192 comments Finished: Blackheart's Legacy (The Odyssey of Jon Sinclair, #1) by Sally Copus
Pages: 330
Goal: No
Review: **** Great read for pre-teen age (I'm guessing on the age group.)

Yellow Crocus picnic scene is from Pages 149-154.

Lines:
"Emily and the driver pulled out navy-blue wool blankets and spread them on the bright-green grass. The picnic basket they took from the wagon produced a delicious spread that included..."

Euphoria birth scene is on Pages 95-96 (Chapter 9).

Lines:
"Sali, her moans deep & her yelps shrill and then a harsh cry...They all began singing songs to lure the baby out....I assisted in this birth. I saw the baby's head show & retreat, show & retreat like a moon phasing quickly..."

Laura | 9707 comments Agron's new goal:

Saxa's new goal: read a book with a penguin

Kim Anderson (kimmatski) | 1223 comments I'm getting ready to start Scorch Trials and it is number 410. However, I'm not a quick reader. It might be Sunday before I'm done, so if someone is quicker, feel free to snag it. But don't go out of your way to try to find something because I'm slow and steady working on it.

message 263: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 21, 2015 08:18PM) (new)

A penguin? I bet one of those was in The Secret Zoo, I can't remember now.

Edited to add: Yep, there are penguins. So if anyone has any problems finding a book for that goal, here's one.

Just checked my books for "A Novel" & noticed that The Invention of Wings was in the results. Margaret is reading that now, right? And why does my edition show it in the name and it doesn't come up that way on "add book"?

Thanks Amanda, they are all checked. Kim was helpful earlier.

A post with all the goals together I guess would be good. I 'm ready for bed!

No worries. Thank you!
Next week is my last week of vacation so I won't be on as much and I will be back to reading my 1-2 books per week. I'm hoping to have my current two books finished by Sunday night. Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer and Sky Burial An Epic Love Story of Tibet by Xinran

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments Saxa's Goals:
1) Read a book where the first word of the text is A or An (Amanda)
2) Read a book first published on the 24th of a month
3) Read a book with a penguin

Argon's Goals:
1) Read a book where a character has an unusual sidekick (Laura and Elle)
2) Read a book with "a novel" in the title (Margaret)
3) Read a book that is ranked 401-500 in bestsellers on book depository () (Kim)

It just depends on the edition of the book that you add. Some editions on GR have the "A Novel" part and some don't.
If you go to "add books" and choose "other editions" you'll find the one that says "a novel".

I hope you like Scarlet! I really love that series. You'll definitely find a few unusual sidekicks in it.

Sky Burial looks really good! Have you started it already? How do you like the writing style?

message 273: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments I found a few books published on the 24th of a month and I'll start one soon if no one else has any plans for the goal. Here's what I found:
Inspector of the Dead (Thomas De Quincey #2) by David Morrell The Moon Tells Secrets by Savanna Welles Betrayed by Your Kiss by Laura Landon Poisonwell (Whispers from Mirrowen, #3) by Jeff Wheeler Fury of Obsession (Dragonfury, #5) by Coreene Callahan A Sinful Deception (Breconridge Brothers, #2) by Isabella Bradford Child of a Hidden Sea (Hidden Sea Tales, #1) by A.M. Dellamonica

So many good books! I'm not sure which one I'll choose. :)

Laura are you planning to grab this goal and read Unbroken? If not, let me know because I can do the audio of Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet (located on page 81-100 on Amazon list) I won't be able to start it until I finish another audio already started.
