Stefan Yates (stefan31) | 136 comments The nominations are in and it's time to vote. Unlike the regular tourney, this vote is just to determine four teams to insert into each bracket. Click on the link to cast your votes. Please only choose a maximum of 4 books in each category. If want to select fewer than 4 or only select for one of the categories that's fine.

LET THE GAMES....BEGIN!!!

Thanks for putting that all together, Stefan!

Two comments:

I was the dunce who suggested adding McCaffrey's Pern series, but as Jonathan pointed out, it was already among the Fantasy seeds (as the first novel, "Dragonflight", rather than the series). My fault, I should have gone back and edited my post. So, don't vote for it, it's already in.

Corey's Expanse series and Lecke's Ancillary Justice should probably be in the SciFi bracket.

Stefan Yates (stefan31) | 136 comments Well, there was only one response so far. So, changes have been made. If you were the one to vote, sorry! Please vote again!

Stefan Yates (stefan31) | 136 comments Also (the nerds like me will appreciate) I generated the seedings for the voted selections using a 1D10+5 formula so that the books that we vote in don't match up first thing against the stiffest comp nor do they get the supposedly easiest match-up. So based on your votes the top 4 vote-getters will be the #'s 6,7,13, & 14 in each bracket respectively.

Michele | 274 comments The Great North Road is scifi not fantasy.

I'm amazed at the amount of work you've done for this.

Fun stuff, thanks.

Stefan Yates (stefan31) | 136 comments Well, shoot. Don't know how I missed that one!

message 7: by Stefan (new)

Stefan Yates (stefan31) | 136 comments And...FIXED. I'll add a vote to that one since it was in the wrong category

message 8: by Stefan (new)

Stefan Yates (stefan31) | 136 comments I'll be tabulating votes and putting out the round 1 bracket in the morning. I'll take any additional votes up until whatever time I get around to doing it.

message 9: by Andreas (new)

Andreas I'm sorry but I don't know what this is all about. Do you care for some introduction/motivation?

Stefan Yates (stefan31) | 136 comments Rather than duplicate earlier efforts, G33zer has posted some explanation in this thread: /topic/show/...

If you have any other questions, ask away and we'll try to clear anything else up.

Stefan Yates (stefan31) | 136 comments And the winners are:

Sci-Fi:
Old Man's War by John Scalzi
River World Series by Philip Jose Farmer
Revelation Space Series by Alastair Reynolds
Doomsday Book by Connie Willis

Fantasy:
Conan the Barbarian Series by Robert E Howard
Elric Saga by Michael Moorcock
The Book of Swords Trilogy by Fred Saberhagen
The Dresden Files Series by Jim Butcher

Luckily, the four in each category stood apart from the rest of the field. I did have to randomize some tie breakers for seeding among each set of four though.
