October 2015 Challenge - Cryptogram
This looks like a very cool challenge. I'm in!

@Lanelle - i think Janice picks which task we read.

You're right. I was so excited to solve the puzzle that I didn't read all the instructions.
Still in :)

Not quite. APCUIP

@Lanelle - i think Janice picks which task we read."
LOL. Do I get a prize for solving it first? ;)

And shoudn't DNKC be DNKP? (I didn't even notice the other word was wrong :)...)

Maybe you get an extra badge?

Have you read The Supernatural Enhancements?? Lots of cryptograms and puzzle in there. Fun, FUN read.

Bella, it is the same pattern for all five."
Yes, it's the same pattern for all 5 tasks.

No, it should be APCUIP. Sorry for the mistake. I've corrected it in message 1.

Egad! Yes, it should be DNKP. It was harder writing these out than I thought it would be.

I thought you would solve the task you were given when you were given it so that you could gopher. But, this group is all a bunch of keeners and they've gone ahead and solved all the tasks. I was worried that it might have been too hard. I guess I didn't need to worry.

What an awesome challenge :D
I was a bit confused at first, here we also have 'cryptogram' puzzles but they look like crosswords except the descriptions of what to fill in in the puzzle are very cryptic instead of straightforward. But for this one it means that all the letters in the sentences are actually supposed to be other letters, right?

Here are the tasks you will read (thanks to the fruit machine):
Sarah - 3
Sandra - 1
Anna (UK) -..."
Does the fruit machine have an aversion for the number 5? ;-)
I think I have cracked it! Cryptograms are not my cup of tea but this one was fun. Excellent challenge Janice!

Yes, Peggy, that was what I was thinking, too (at first)!

In order to solve the cryptogram, look for common letters or word patterns. The letter E is one of the most frequently used letters in the alphabet. Obviously a single letter word is either going to be "a" or "I". Look for word patterns with words like "That" and words with contractions.
If you are stuck, you may buy a vowel. If you buy a vowel, you must give a recommendation of a 5 star read that has stayed with you. You may buy as many vowels as you need as long as you have recommendations for each. I will PM you the vowels.
Indicate below if you want to participate, and I will tell you which task is yours. When you have solved your puzzle, tell us the book you are going to read but hold off on telling us how it fits the task. You will have to do that in the reporting thread. You don't want to solve the puzzle for someone else.
I get tired of tracking scores, and October is going to be a busy month for me, so I'm going to keep it simple and not ask you to score your book.
General Rules:
1. The book may be in any format - paperback, ebook, audiobook.
2. The book may be in any genre.
3. The book may NOT be combined with the Year Long Serial Killer Challenge.
4. The book must be read between October 1 to October 31 (based on your own time zone).
5. The challenge is for one book. You may read more books if you chose, but only the highest scoring book will apply.
6. The book must be 175 pages or more determined by the issue you read. If reading eBook or audiobook page numbers will be determined by the issue that comes up on a Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ search.
