The challenge box on the group homepage allows you to track your personal progress. That will become active once the challenge officially starts. Just make sure you enter the correct bookshelf (from the "My Books" section). It will give you percent and whether you're on track.
If anyone has issues with it tomorrow or after official start then definitely come back with specific questions :)

I can't wait for the challenge box to be live! haha

This is totally confusing to me, being new at participating in a goodreads group. I'll have to look at this today and tomorrow and see how this actually works. Do you see everyone's progress in the challenge box, or just your own?
It's only your own personal progress. The box will look slightly different once the challenge starts. I can post directions for filling out the info tomorrow (EST) :)

Looking forward to this - thanks! :)

Directions for filling out the challenge box:
- Enter the number of books you want to read for the challenge
- Create a bookshelf in the 'My Books' section by clicking on 'add shelf' on the left (for example, 'around the year 2015)
- Copy the shelf name after you create it (with dashes)
- Paste the shelf name in the challenge box
- Click 'save'

So you don't want us to add a book if it's for let's say week 43?
No, you can post the book when you read it. If you read a book for week 30 during January then you can create the topic. We just don't want people to post topics for books that they're reading in May, for example.

Ahh okay, that was also what I thought but got confused. Maybe I read it wrong :) Thank you, Laura!

Ok thinks for answering my question.I was just wondering.

ps- thanks Mods! You all are awesome!

There is a forum called Book of the Month, just like this Mod Corner.

We'll do suggestions according to the genres we chose and then a poll to decide the winning book. We'll discuss the book during 2 months, so people have time to find it and read it, if they want.

Oh cool! Is there a thread for that?

Example:
1984 would go under "N" for Nineteen Eighty Four
61 Hours would go under "S" for Sixty One Hours

Does this have to be an actual world event or would a fictional world event do just as well? I'm considering reading Timequake but that is clearly pure fiction.

Adam > you can use an event in a fictional world :)

I was curious when doing the challenge, if a book was started on say Dec 29/15 but you didn't finish it until Jan 3/16, can this not be counted in a challenge; based on the fact that it was started before Jan 1st/16? Sorry if this question seems dumb or its already been clarified or previously asked...I'm a newb!
Secondly, is it frowned upon to read books that have been previously read in your lifetime, a reread I suppose?
Of course I had a few more questions and am drawing a blank!
Thanks for your time?

Happy reading! :)

As Sophie said, some people are very strict about it and some are not. It's entirely up to you how strict you want to be. Most of all, we just want you to have fun!

I don't watch many movies but I've seen quite a few TV series that are made from a book or books.

I think I'll need that for something else so I'll go searching! There must be a movie I've seen from a book I haven't read but want to read :) Thanks

I agree. I might say something general like "I really liked the plot and the character development" without the tags.

Very true! But I was talking with my brother yesterday and he's reading The Lightning Thief with his kids and said it was really good. And I've seen that - serendipity :)

I'm trying to add a shelf to my challenge box and it's saying not entered. I copy and pasted the shelf where I have my "Around the Year in 52 Books" books. What am I doing wrong?

I hope the questions are not too silly and obvious but before I spend anymore time searching the site I thought I'd ask. Thanks!
