Aww, I guess I didn't realize it was him. :(

Ah well, it'll give you a reason to listen again sometime, right? :-) I have a number of his old audiobooks that he narrated himself, so I recognize his voice quickly. He definitely doesn't have the most pleasant speaking voice, but there's just something about the author reading his own work that very few narrators can capture.

Finished! (view spoiler)[I loved this, the ending was so emotional and they did a great job of tying up the loose ends. To be honest I was conflicted about them bringing Bode back, I thought it was a bit of a cop out in a way but the Locke family had been through so much I guess they deserve an HEA of some sort. I liked the scenes with Tyler and his dad, they felt so genuine and I got choked up when they said their goodbyes at the end. The dramatisation made so much difference to my read this time around, I couldn't believe how much of the story I had missed whilst reading the graphic novels that I picked up on audio due to not charging through it at warp speed. The music and sound effects were also used really well to dramatic effect. This was such an amazing freebie. :D (hide spoiler)]

This audiobook was great! I was pulled into this story from begining to end. I instantly developed a soft spot for poor little ignored Bode. My commute to and from work will never be the same!

I'm on the second part and its amazing. I too feel sorry for Bode. Its a great audiobook, I love the dramatization, feels like watching a movie. All the different voices playing the characters and the background sounds make a big difference between dramatization and just an audiobook that is narrated by one person. Its kind of boring without all the characters having different narrators, I am spoiled now from this great freebie from Audibles and wish all audiobooks were done in this fashion.

I am nearly finished as well, and SO impressed with this. They did a fantastic job of adapting the story. Hopefully people who don't know the story feel the same way, but as it went on, I felt like there was less that required explanation, so I think even people new to the story will enjoy it.

I'm at about 63% and I'm having a ball with this audio book! I think it's right up there with some of the best audios I've ever heard.

Finished yesterday. Wow, that was just amazing! I'd love to see more audio get the "full treatment" like this. I can see revisiting this one at some point, even as many audiobooks as I have on my "TBH" list. Kudos to Audible and/or the creators for giving this one away to make sure a lot of people get to experience this!

Kate, on your ending spoiler: (view spoiler)[I understand where you're coming from on Bode, but I was OK with it, because it fit the logic of the story, and was quite creative. There were still plenty of people who didn't survive, so it's tough to call it too happy of an ending, but at least what was left of the family survived. :-) Whether it was appropriate or not, I got a big laugh out of Bode/Dodge going on the profanity-laced tirade in the cave and breaking character - I could just picture the shocked look on everyone's faces. :-) (hide spoiler)]

I was extremely touched by the character of Rufus. Whoever played him really touched my heart. What an excellent character he was-he seemed very real to me. This was one of the confusing spots for me on the audio as well. I bought the
graphic novels which showed what happens (an Amazon strategy, I suspect, but the comics are great anyway).
