The Book, “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, is an amazing book. I enjoyed this book so much; it was exactly what I was looking for. When trying to find a book I looked up “the craziest books and “the craziest authors. After looking at several books and authors I decided that Hunter S. Thompson was probably one of the craziest authors and the book “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is equally crazy. This book begins with Thompson and his attorney driving well over the speed limit while drunk and most of the drugs I’ve heard of and a few that haven’t. The book starts crazy and it never slows down as Thompson searches for The American Dream.
One of the craziest things about this novel is that it may or may not be based on a true story. Thompson really did go to Las Vegas to be journalist for sports illustrated and he really did do a ton of drugs, but Thompson did not say whether is was true or not. Once when he was asked he replied "It should never be necessary for a writer to explain how his work should be read." If you are looking for a crazy book to read that is full of unexpected surprises. This is the book for you.

You are 100 prevent right. "We can't stop here. This is bat country.

I watched the movie first on the recommendation of a friend and then ended up reading the book also. Enjoyed them both!!

Given that the author was more than half of his time under drugs, not even he knew if it what transpired was true or not!
(as it shows clearly in both the book and the movie).

Speaking of the movie, funny fact is that Johnny Depp (casted as Thompson) became Thompson's very good friend.
Apparently, when Thompson demised, Depp spent a huge sum in a custom-made cannon that shot his ashes to the skies.

Takes a nut-job to know another, I guess.

I love everything about it - Thompson is a personal icon for me and this is probably the funniest, most kinetic book I've ever read.

One of my all-time favorites.

I read watched the movie first when I was 14 and had no idea what was going on. When I was 16 I read the book then watched the movie again. I appreciated the story much more and love it.
