Brenda Schoolcraft I want to congratulate Rene on a job well done. I love her voice, and her prose. The storyline, I have a few issues with. Wondering what other's who read it, have to say. Like the virginal white haired boy, who becomes the sex toy of the prison? And the death row inmate that can't wait to die? Did Rene become too cliché with the whole prison scene?

Richard It was a perfect book. Blew my socks off and has resonated ever since. I don't think she put a foot wrong

Brenda Schoolcraft Do you think it was necessary for her to say that she herself was a victim of child abuse, and that her mother was challenged? I didn't see that it was needed nor was it believable.

Richard Remember the whole narrative is in the mind of the prisoner on death row so everything we're told comes from him. Every facet of every character is a part of him

Brenda Schoolcraft Thanks for clearing that up for me, I guess it makes more sense now.

Richard No worries. It's just my theory but it feels like a good theory. Loved the book though, it had that same euphoric first impression as Now It's Time To Say Goodbye or The Ocean at the End of the Lane

Brenda Schoolcraft I loved this book. Living in the mind of a death row inmate even for the length of this book, reminds me how precious freedom is.

Mia Bulivou How high is the actual quality of writing in this book? For example her ability to describe things and create complex images? Something like Cassandra Clare, Dan Brown or Sarah J Maas?

Richard Nothing like dan brown. Reminded me of Lois de berniers back when he was good.

Thanks :)

Brenda Schoolcraft I think she did a good job of creating complex images. You will feel like you are right there, underground, in one of those death cells. I can still feel the dampness and the misery.

Brenda Schoolcraft The fact that Rene is a death row investigator in real life, gives her the edge to write this story. They say write what you know. I'm sure every day of her real life she is filled with emotion from these desperate ones, clinging to the last days of their lives.

Brenda Schoolcraft Hi Richard. Thank you for mentioning Ocean at the end of the Lane, and Now it's time to Say goodbye. I will want to read these books now, that you compared them to The Enchanted. Thank You.

No worries. I've read Now Its Time 4 times now (and I never re read). Ocean was an instant classic that I've become a selfless pimp for so I'm happy to have foisted it onto someone else as well.

Now it's time is a bit of an acquired taste, it's rather graphic in parts

Brenda Schoolcraft I love graphic. Thank you!

I loved it and then went seeking more books by the writer. Couldn't find them until I looked in Gay & Lesbian Lit. Was quite annoyed that they'd been separated like that. It was only when I re read Now It's Time that I realised how homosexual it was

Gorgeous book but if you make it through explain the end to me. Ta

Brenda Schoolcraft Will do. Happy reading!!
