Divergent! General thoughts? Book thoughts? Movie thoughts? Actor thoughts?

I marathon-read the trilogy in November 2013 and absolutely loved them! Divergent, however, was my favorite of the three. At first, I was a little unsure about the casting, but once I saw the movie I absolutely fell in love with them! I think Shailene Woodley makes a wonderful Tris as well as Theo James playing Four.

I agree Laney ..i absolutely love divergent!! I cant wait to see the movie ..i hope it will do the book justice ..

The movie is really great, Renée! It stays mostly true to the book but there are a few things taken out most likely for times' sake. I was so happy when I learned it was two and a half hours long!

I literally finally just saw the movie last night (FINALLY OMFG I WAITED 2 FREAKING YEARS). anyways, i loved the movie and the book but i wish the book was better written

Yeah. I loved the storyline. After reading it I realised it was like the IDEAL storyline for me, but I hated the way it was written. I think it was written really badly (no offence) and I think it would have been so much better if it were written by someone like Susanne Collins or Jennifer L. Armentrout. I much prefer their styles of writing.

and yeah, I also felt that Veronica Roth's writing style improved as she wrote, especially from Divergent to Allegiant.

But I agree, AMAAAAZING storyline. :D

The movie was AWESOME! It followed the books really well. I can totally understand why you would be a bit obsessive over it, because I know I was. By the way, what faction would you choose?

I love how this divergent discussion was just me and Rebecca arguing over whether I can call Bookhuggerlover, or Bookloverhugger or - getting away from the point - whatever her name is, I don't see how such a fuss was made over me calling her Rebecca. The movie was very well done (in my opinion), Leah. I believe Shailene did a great job portraying Tris and capturing her image. Multiple things were taken out, though. (unfortunately, no book-to-movie adaptation will be perfect.)

I just watched the movie and it was so GOOD!! They did make quite a few changes but it made sense. The ending was brilliant and because it was different than the book I was on the edge of my seat! Everyone did such a great job!! :)

I'm still waiting for the movie to be on theaters in my country :S

Because it's a book to movie adaptation. It's never as good as the book

They changed the ending because it was a explosive conclusion to the movie! The end of the book pretty much also happened with tris and Tobias fighting, they just added the Jeanine thing - which was cool!

Tris will still die :'( but they will probably make it more meaningful in the movie! They can't change the whole outcome of the series!
