I am intending to read less in 2016 so have elected only 300 books for the year. That is, fiction and non-fiction - I also read a lot of crafting and art books and other stuff.
I read a lot of historical fiction but like other stuff too and am not averse to being made to laugh.

I like a wide variety of books from mystery to historical romance depending on my mood. I live in Massachusetts.
I look forward to being part of this group and seeing what you reading.

I like reading everything from mysteries and thrillers to literary classics. I've been trying to read a wider variety from all genres and cultures.
I learned about goodreads from google, but joined because a old friend/colleague reviews the books he reads on here. And I've discovered a couple of reading challenges that will broaden my reading list next year.
My goal for next year is to read a book a week next year.

I'm Jill and I'm from Ohio. I found this group from it being mention in another group that I'm in. I enjoy reading most genres . I do like to broaden my horizons and I do try to venture out of my comfort zone. I have found some challenges for 2016 that I think I will enjoy doing. I look forward to visiting with everyone here.

I'm Sabina and I'm 24 years old. I'm from the Netherlands, where to I will return again on January 7th. At this moment, I'm in Japan for my internship for my University.
I've had a lot of free time this year, which I filled up with reading (next to traveling and eating sushi/sashimi/ramen and other goodies) and I would like to see if I can read another 100+ books next year! This is mostly since I'll need to concentrate on graduating and starting another project. But I'm hopefull that I can read an additional two books a week.
It's a pleasure to meet you all

My goal for next year is more modest: I want to read at least 26 books I haven't read before and as many re-reads as I want. (I've missed visiting old friends this year because I didn't want to fall behind.) I've chosen 20 categories, which will leave me free to choose the remaining new-to-me books without feeling pressured to fill a quota.
I've read books from many different genres, but my favorites include science fiction, fantasy, and historical fiction. I like memoirs and am developing a taste for zombie fiction. (Nom nom nom.) I like romance, but I usually prefer it to be part of a bigger story instead of the whole point of the book. I love getting recommendations on what to read, though my to-read list here is already well over 300!
Favorite books include The Night Circus, The Lions of Al-Rassan, Daddy Long-Legs, Feed (from the Newsflesh Trilogy), and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. Favorite authors include P. G. Wodehouse, Tamora Pierce, Robin McKinley, Stephen King, and Oliver Sacks.
I'm delighted to be here!

I live in Virginia, USA. I do most of my "reading" via audio books during my commute, I hope that won't disqualify me!
I am interested in fiction, mystery, thrillers, autobiographies, some YA. Not a fan of sci-fi or dystopia or horror. In 2015, i read 93 books, and i'd like to hit the 100 mark in 2016, but i have quite a few long books on my list, so i'm keeping it to 50+. I'm always open to recommendations!

No disqualification, Sabina! A good chunk of us listen to audiobooks for the challenges. They totally count! Welcome to the group!

I'm Kristen. I have been a ŷ member for awhile, but haven't been as active as I want to be. I am glad to be a part o this group and hoping to read 50 books in 2016. My favorite genre right now is YA Fantasy I am currently reading The Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Lanai Taylor. My favorite book all time book is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.
Hello!
My name is Layla and I'm from Brazil. I found this group browsing through goodreads and thought it would be nice to take on the challenges to read more in 2016, since I didn't as much as I would this past year. I don't have a favorite genre, I read whatever book piques my interest, I don't read a lot of nonfiction books though.

Hi Ceira I love YA Fantasy too! :)

At the beginning of 2015 I set my Reading Goal low but as I came close to it I decided to up a little bit, and then again... I've read 43 so far and I expect to do much better next year. I like to read different genres and languages (spanish, english and french), mostly fiction, fantasy, historical, adventure, suspense, thriller, horror, mystery, classics, science fiction, comics, manga, pffff the list is big :D
I tried to do the Popsugar 2015 reading challenge and I think I completed more than 70% of it, so I am planing on giving it a go on the 2016 edition also, and setting my Reading Goal here in ŷ in 43, since I want to do better this 2016.
So hi to everyone in this group and I hope to get to make some new reading buddies ;)

I'm Bobbi and I'm from the United States. I'm new here on ŷ and decided I should hop in with both feet. I've had less time to read in this past year than ever before so when I saw this group while searching, I thought it might be nice to be involved with like-minded book lovers in a low pressure setting.
I read just about everything as long as it's well written though my favorite genres are paranormal romance, suspense/horror, and true crime. I'm most likely to shy away from contemporary romance, self help, and new adult (not all, but some, and not YA).
My goals for 2016 are both to read more books and to read a greater range of authors. Many of my favorite series are coming to an end.
I look forward to getting to know some of you, and I'm always game for a recommendation, giving or receiving. I promise I don't bite (only the characters in my books do that).
:)

I'm Cathi and I've been a librarian for 25+ years. I enjoy historical fiction, thrillers, and a wide variety of nonfiction.
I'm also a newly minted Kundalini yoga teacher and Reiki Master, so I read on those topics also.
Nice to meet you!

Hi, I'm Trenton. I'm from Nashville, TN, USA. I love to read a lot of different kinds of books especially books that make me feel like I learned something. I don't particularly like a lot of fantasy or romance, but I do read them occasionally when I hear a there is a movie coming out based on the book.
I found the group by clicking groups, tags > bookclub and it was the first one, everyone here seemed awesome so I joined because my book club on FB fell apart.
I don't really have a reading goal. I read at least a book a month and sometimes two books a week (depending on how busy I am). My goal is just to join this community so I can keep reading and keep expanding my knowledge and understanding.

The kind of books I like to read is historical fiction! They are by far my favourite, I started reading them back in elementary school and instantly fell in love!
I can't wait to meet you guys, and to get excited about reading again! My goal for 2016 is going to be 20 books! My long-term goal is to get to at least one book a week in the years to come, but I thought i'd start (sort of) small and work my way up!
I'd also love to start a youtube channel, but i'm too much of a chicken to get into that just yet, so I've started a blog which I'm very excited about! I would also love, love, love to read manuscripts, so if anyone has any ideas about how I would go about doing that I'd love to get your input!
:) Until next time!

I like reading (ovi). My favorite things to read are usually depressing stories, classic novels, and, currently, a bit of YA.
I was looking for the official 2016 ŷ reading challange when I stumbled across this group, and I thought the idea was amazing so now I'm sticking around.
I'm pretty bad at inspiring myself to get up and read, but I still managed to finish 21 books this year (so far). So I'm going to try to finish 40 books next year. These have to be books that I'm reading for pleasure, not for classes (pleasure does, however, include book clubs and all that jazz).
Good luck to everyone with your reading goals, and I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you over the course of 2016!

My goal is to read 100 books in 2016. I joined several challenges to help me reach my goal. I don't read science fiction or horror. I am not a huge mystery fan but have enjoyed them.

I read pretty much anything apart from horror and factual war stories. My idea of the perfect relaxing holiday is to park myself on a beach in the sun somewhere and read a book a day...bliss!
My aim each year is to read a book a week (so 52 books a year - good maths huh?) which seems to give me enough time to read my magazine subscriptions and write my personal blog, Gidday from the UK as well. Let's face it, I just love words!
Looking forward to sharing the next year of reading with you all.

I mostly read fiction, with some biographies, and an occasional non fiction for variety. I do most of my reading via audio books on my commute. My goal for 2016 is 50+ books. In 2015, i read 94 books, so if i get anywhere close to that i will be happy .
