I might join y'all on this if you don't mind. let me see what is the December group reads & how much the book cost.

The 1 chapter a day sounds like a good idea, so I believe i can commit!

I'm flexible; whatever works for everyone else is fine with me.
I really would like to join in but that e-book is just too much and I can't find it in any libraries near me.

How about the 20th?"
Okay by me...will check this post for updates...

I update my first post with our progress every day so keep yourself updated please, and remember one chapter a day :)

Knacker seems so sleazy. Seems like a red herring though.
Anybody read Nevill's other books? I've now noticed a pattern in which he favors downontheirluck runaway heroines.

Back in the old days the "knacker" man would drive around and pick up dead or dying livestock for making glue, leather, etc. The current term is "rendering company" which is still around in rural areas with farm animals.
Where are the other tenants in the house? Stephanie has yet to meet one.
this is sounding so interesting! maybe I can borrow one of your all's book once some one is done?

Yeah, I know what a knacker is :D
I dunno, sounds a bit on the nose for me. I think he's a red herring baddie.
Maybe the tenants are at work? I can't remember, does Stephanie always leave the house at the same time?

Sorry Latasha, I'm listening to this one on audible....

Good one! Horses don't want to go to the glue factory.

Knacker sounds justified. He did show her the estate, didn't actually lie or sugarcoat his lodgings, so she has no excuse to play the victim.

I also hope the twist isn't just ghosts trapped in the house, unable to leave.

What are you up to? We're meant to be on chapter 10.

How is the audiobook? :)

I hope so too, but I'm afraid that Stephanie is a classic prototypical victim; she certainly seems to be letting herself sink deeper into a situation that another girl would be highly suspicious of and sensibly leave.
Knacker is way very transparently untrustworthy and full of bad intentions. Why she has not gone to some authority yet (police, housing/zoning, etc.) is beyond me. If I were dealing with a landlord like him I would be on the phone to Code Enforcement so fast his head would spin.
