Winter, where I live we don't have states, but we do have counties which are more or less the same thing. So that's probably what I'll be choosing for that. I'm also open to using my home city as well if that doesn't pan out.

Winter wrote: "Those who don't have states, how large/ small area will you choose?" I probably choose something like 100 km radius from my home town, or whole Finland. There's actually few books that I could read where everything, or at least 95% of the plot, happens in my home town :D

We don't really have high school here either, though we have something similar that's usually for 13-18/19 year olds, so I reckon going by what Tanya's said that that would work just as well as high school would.

We have for kids, and older kids and then most go three years of school more, some specialized a bit, I think that is the closest maybe.

Another way to look at "high school" is that it's the last (typically four, sometimes five) years of schooling that are considered mandatory. After that is college, which is optional. You can interpret it however makes sense to you, though!
