MAUS I: A Tale of a Survivor and THE HUNGER GAMES for AUGUST

Emma, Volume 1 which is NOT a retelling of Austen, but is about a Victorian maid, so it would be good for those who wanted something classic-era, which got a lot of votes (or for those that are afraid all GNs are about superheroes)
The Complete Persepolis, which is just fantastic.
and
Maus I A Survivor's Tale My Father Bleeds History, which will please those that voted WWII, and would make an interesting cross-read after The Book Thief.

Cat. 1 - The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, because everyone that hasn't read it needs to in anticipation of the sequel coming out Sept. 1st!

Ooh, yay! I've been wanting to read that.

I don't know how the market is in the UK, but here in the U.S., graphic novels are one the areas of growth for YA lit, so I like that category choice. I just started reading graphic novels this year because of my students!

Yes, it was one of his first kids' books, I believe, other than anthology type stuff like M is for Magic.
However, with its popularity, a graphic novel version was made, maybe due to Gaiman's Sandman roots, though don't quote me on that. Oh, and now there's the movie as well :)
The Coraline link in post 20 is the GR info for the comic.
Here's the Amazon link for the comic if you're interested regardless of votes:

Interesting info! Thanks for sharing!

I'll put The Complete Persepolis."
Oops. Yeah, that's the Emma I was saying it is not a retelling of... All fixed now.

...kidding. I think its a great way to remind people! If they don't want to be a part of the group they shouldn't be in it, and messages regarding polls aren't SPAM.
...at least that is my opinion.

I agree! I managed to miss the July (or June?) voting because I didn't check back during the right time frame. Updates would be welcome.

p.s do people mind getting emails asking them to vote in polls? I'm always a little shy of spamming people's mail boxes. I was going to check th..."
I don't mind a bit. Email away!

The library has Maus, too... might as well pick it up, while I'm there! I'm always up for a graphic novel...

Unfortunately, the other branch had different hours, and I showed up just as it closed! :(
I wondered if someone would check it out before I got there today, but I was the first to ask! Phew! On Chapter 3 now.

And, kind of a shock because I haven't done this in some time, I read it straight through! Wow, it was really good. HP5 is probably the last book I did that with. Oh, wait no. *slightly embarrassed* It was Twilight.
In any case, JG, if you were in Asheville, you could have my copy!
