Nanci | 1864 comments Actually, Brianna, I too have read Slaughterhouse 5 and it was years ago, so if that doesn't work for you I can reread it. Just let me know what you want to do.

message 452: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Ok, I get confused about the Reverse. I think I've got it added correctly on the spreadsheet, but if Kierra or someone else thinks it's wrong, please let me know. :P

message 453: by kierra (new)

kierra (karmania) Nanci, I asked about the Reverse card in the beginning of the challenge. Basically, you could have read the book 10 years ago and Arlene still can use it as a Reverse.

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments Kierra wrote: "Also, guys, your books must be longer than 100 pages. The assasin and the pirate lord that Letitia read can't be used since it's only 70 pages :("

I saw that after I added it. I fixed it though.

message 455: by Teasha (new)

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments I read shatter me that Brianna is reading and will work for a reverse as well.

Great! Once Brianna posts that she's finished it, I'll add it to the spreadsheet.

message 457: by Brianna (new)

Brianna Andreda | 121 comments Nanci I read Slaughterhouse-Five in March so it hasn't been 6 months yet

message 458: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments That's ok, Brianna. I read it a long time ago, so I just put my name down for it. Thanks for letting me know!

message 459: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Happy Cinco de Mayo team!
Here's an update...I asked to see if we could get another player, since we're down a few people compared to other teams, but there is no one else to add. We'll just read away and do our best like we did in May. We won't be one of the top teams, but we can still have fun!

message 460: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Great news team! The mods were able to help us out concerning our lack of team members. Here's the message I received from Karen:

So the actual books read by your remaining team members last month was 81 and their books p/m on sign ups would have been 72.
The average for team sizes based on sign up numbers is 82. So if we were to get a new player, I would look for someone at 10 books per month.

As we won't get a new player, I've spoken to pixie and we suggest that for May, Scooby Doo can chose any 10 books you read in April and use them again in May as a "psuedo player". In the player name on the spreadsheet just call it 'Player X' ;)

I will add the 10 books from 'Player X' after we are part way through the month and see what we really need. This is really going to help us be on par with the other teams and so nice of them to help us out this way!

Nanci | 1864 comments Has anyone read, Throne of Glass? Letitia has finished it, so it would be great if we can use it as a Reverse. I keep seeing it on threads, so guessing it's pretty popular.

message 462: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Anyone read The Widow? I just finished it and gave it 4 stars. It's quite popular right now too.

It is really good if you like fantasy/romance.

message 464: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Arlene and Letitia, you are our reading machines! Great progress so far!

message 465: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I used our first Player X book to satisfy one of the Reverse cards in Hand One, since those may be hard to fulfill.

Here's what we have left in the first 2 hands:
Hand One
Reverse
Hand Two
Wild
Reverse
Skip
Draw 2
Reverse

Tons of Reverse cards! Yuck!

Anyone interested in reading this?

Thanks! It is a great way to relax.

message 473: by Arlene (new)

Arlene | 35 comments Just finished reading Throne of Glass, spreadsheet updated.

I noticed that Letitia added Feral Sins, I have also read this book earlier in the year. I added to my uno shelf, can be used a reverse for hand 2. I'll add it to the spreadsheet.

message 474: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Great, Arlene'. So helpful to get a few of those Reverses checked off the list.

message 475: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Spreadsheet updated to here.

We finished Hand One...way to go!

Hand Two will be completed when we finish a Skip card and Letitia finishes Feral Sins and Brianna finishes Shatter Me for our 2 Reverses.

message 476: by Brianna (new)

Brianna Andreda | 121 comments I will have Shatter Me done either tonight or tomorrow

No, the one I'm reading is by Laury Falter.

message 480: by Greta (new)

Greta Hi all, checking in! I finished Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell on 5/1 and have been reading slower since but will pick things back up now. Will enter into the spreadsheet.

message 481: by kierra (new)

kierra (karmania) Nice mini challenge! How about we move it (the tab) to our personal spreadsheet so that everyone can edit it?

message 482: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Greta wrote: "Hi all, checking in! I finished Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell on 5/1 and have been reading slower since but will pick things back up now. Will enter into the spreadsheet."

OMGosh, Greta! That was my all-time favorite book for years! I read it in 7th grade, so I'll add it to my GR books, so it can be a Reverse. Such a classic!

message 483: by Greta (new)

Greta Oh good!!

message 484: by Greta (new)

Greta Yes, I really liked it, Nanci!

message 485: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Greta wrote: "Yes, I really liked it, Nanci!"
I added it to the spreadsheet, but I don't see it on the personal spreadsheet yet. Do you want to add it or should I?

Glad you liked it. It had a huge impact on me as a teenager. My best friend even wrote a sequel, which of course was never published. :p

message 486: by Greta (new)

Greta Wow, what an undertaking that must have been! Did you like her sequel?

I can add it tonight. I will be updating all my team challenges.

message 487: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments The May mini challenge looks amazing! It has a tab on our team spreadsheet. I goggled and found the answers to all except number 2. If you know the word, please fill it in on the spreadsheet.

As you finish a book that works for a letter you can either post it to the thread here, or just add it to the spreadsheet tab.

message 488: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Yes, for a 14 year old I thought it was really good. It took her about a year to write it. We laugh about it now. She's a real smarty pants. She's Turkish, speaks and reads 5 languages fluently and has 3 masters plus a PhD!

I cant find it on our team spreadsheet. Where exactly is it?

message 490: by Teasha (new)

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments I finished the Heir of Fire so I will start to read the book that Arlene read which is feral sins. I also read the book that Brianna is reading and added it to our team spreadsheet.

message 491: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Letitia,
When you go to the UNO Scooby Doo spreadsheet at the very bottom where the tabs are there are arrows to the far right. Click on the arrow on the right and you will see the Eurovision tab. It's just hidden. I added Heir of Fire for you. Thanks for adding your books to the team spreadsheet.

message 492: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Working on word 9 for the Eurovision mini challenge for May. Remember for each letter we get 5 points and then 15 points for each word we finish. Please add your books as you read them, or if you'd rather post them here and I'll add them.

message 493: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Also, for the mini challenge all books are applicable as long as they are finished May 10-31st. That means if you started reading a book at the beginning of UNO in March, but don't finish it until May 10 or later it can be used. :)

Haha. Okay. I still don't see it. I am clearly losing my mind.
Thank you for adding it.
>.<

message 495: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments No worry. So much easier to explain these things in person. Just post as you read and I'll take care of it. :)

message 496: by Greta (new)

Greta My thought is that I will mark all the books I read in the Personal Spreadsheet for May and then update here with all the letters my book works for. That way you can use the book for whatever letter you need. Is that ok?

message 497: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Sounds great, Greta! It would be really helpful if everyone could do the same. :)

Teasha Schultz (lhk3) | 65 comments Greta wrote: "My thought is that I will mark all the books I read in the Personal Spreadsheet for May and then update here with all the letters my book works for. That way you can use the book for whatever lette..."

So a letter needs to be the first letter in the book title, author first name or surname, character name or nickname, or setting. Articles (a/an/the) can be ignored in the book titles. For this spell-it-out, you can also use the first letter in the series name.

Sounds good to me! I will add my book to the spreadsheet and then put all the letters available in a post on here. Then I don't have to make my head spin trying to figure out where to go. ha.

message 499: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Ha! That would be great, Letitia.

Arlene, could you please post on here the letters that your book, Fallen, works for the Eurovision mini challenge? See posts #510 and #512 if you need additional information. Thanks!
