Now that Leafmarks is ending, I am hoping some of the people there will find a place here. I started Library groups on Shelfari and Leafmarks platforms, we've probably crossed paths if you were in either.

You will also likely find many here you know from there. There is room for all in the ballroom. I have set up two bars: the one on the left is non-alcoholic, to your right is the strong stuff. I also have a table with coffee and tea.

If you chose to imbibe, please leave your car keys with the bartender and avoid the fountain.

Under the bar, it's only for special members, like you.

Fishface | 713 comments I hope it's really good tea, Bel, not the generic stuff.

*hunts for the lemon slices*

The dancers are here!

Jerry-Book | 35 comments So, Bel I checked Shelfari today and it is still there but maybe on life support.

message 12: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 713 comments I was able to get on my own page and move from there to CinemApocryphon's. I would kill to be able to use their search function again.

message 13: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 713 comments Okay, scratch that. The site appears to be down. For the moment? Forever? Who knows?

Minions. As long as I stick with Despicable Me, I enjoy them.

Just clicked on my Shelfari bookmark, and I came here.

Popcorn anyone?

Jerry-Book | 35 comments Well it's a crying shame. I think I had been a Shelfarian since 2007. So, it's a piece of history swept into the dustbin of history. Quite heartless by Amazon but why would we expect any less?

Join me in a toast to Shelfari being no more. To everyone that i said Amazon is evil. Who was right huh!

You are undoubtedly correct.

Charlene (librarymomforall) | 159 comments Shelf is gone, LM is going. So here I am. I do have my books here already but haven't really joined any groups. So since I work in a Library and love books this looks to be the place for me.

I'll make deviled eggs.

YAY ... I love deviled eggs and never take the time to make them myself.

message 24: by Karin (new)

Karin I brought lots of chocolate; great for a pick-me-up while mourning our lost book sites.

message 25: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 713 comments I stocked the powder room with old-book-scented soap and cologne. Oh, and I brought coconut shrimp.

Fishface | 713 comments One thing I really miss about Shelfari is their "Books Like This Book" feature. So many times lately I have wanted to upload a book because it has features in common with another book I've read -- for instance, I'm in the middle of Escape from Evil: Married at 17 to a Serial Killer, She's One Victim Who Escaped and if I were at Shelfari, I could add it to the page for Conquering Darkness: Memoir of the Serial Killer's Wife, and vice versa.

Bleagh,

Fishface | 713 comments One thing I really miss about Shelfari today is the Reading Timeline. GR does have the Stats feature that allows you to see the books you've read in a given year, but it doesn't seem to work half the time. In fact the My Books features in general are as graceful and functional as a one-legged frog.

This is important to me because of the way I remember my reading. "That blasted book I can't think of was right before I read such and such," but I can't consult my reading timeline to know what other books I read around that time. If I added a book to my GR shelf back at the beginning of me being on this site, and read it much later, I'll have to search all over tarnation to find it again -- IF it hasn't been mysteriously kicked off the shelf somehow, as happens all the time.

Sigh.

When you click on the MY BOOKS tab ... on the far right you'll have two symbols. One is four boxes in a square ... that gives you your books in "cover" view.

The symbol on the LEFT of the four boxes is what some people call "the hamburger" ... It's three heavy horizontal lines.
Click on THAT and you'll get your books in table view.
You should then be able to sort by DATE READ (assuming you included a date finished). That might help.

I admit it's not nearly so easy and elegant as Shelfari, though.

Fishface | 713 comments Thanks BC! I'll go and see if it's working today. This is a more-than-slightly-buggy site.
