Donna I've chosen "Foundation" by Issac Asimov for our July book. Yesterday's newspaper Parade magazine listed the best 75 books in the past 65 years, and "Foundation" (which was written the year I was born) made the list hands-down. You can get it at the library, or on Amazon for $7.99. If you want the 7-book set it's $55.93,,, however, it is so foundational in American literature that you can easily get a copy at the library for free. The first book in the series stands on its own, and doesn't even end as if it's the start of a series. Enjoy!

Koji-San Found out it was hanging out in my Kindle library from years ago. It's almost like I got it for free!

Donna Well, I finished the book, and I must say my reading tastes have changed since I was in high school! I don't remember the book just leaving me hanging like it does. I guess I must have read the next 3 books right away to finish the storyline. Well, at least you now can say that you have read one of the top 50 books published in the past 65 years or so. There's some consolation :-)

Koji-San I'm almost to the end!
Interestingly enough, I've started to watch Star Trek: TOS on Netflix and I'm sort of immersed this month in 1960's sci-fi! I must say that Foundation feels more fresh and modern then TOS does. That's not to say they aren't without their flaws, but I love looking for the kernels of the future of science fiction in the books and films of the past.
