This is the thread for discussing The Pickwick Papers. If those reading the book want more threads, please send me the breakdown of chapters. Thanks.

Kirsten (kmcripn) According to my Kindle copy, it breaks down as such:

Episode I (originally published in March 1836): Chapters I-II

Episode II (originally published in April 1836): Chapter III-V

Episode III (originally published in May 1836): Chapters VI-VIII

Episode IV (originally published in June 1836): Chapters IX-XI

Episode V (originally published in July 1836): Chapters XII-XIV

Episode VI (originally published in August 1836): Chapters XV-XVII

Episode VII (originally published in September 1836): Chapters XVIII-XX

Episode VIII (originally published in October 1836): Chapters XXI-XXIII

Episode IX (originally published in November 1836): Chapters XXIV-XXVI

Episode X (originally published in December 1836): Chapters XXVII-XXVIII

Episode XI (originally published in January 1837): Chapters XXIX-XXX1

Episode XII (originally published in February 1837): Chapters XXXII-XXXIII

Episode XIII (originally published in March 1837): Chapters XXXIV-XXXVI

Episode XIV (originally published in April 1837): Chapters XXXVII-XXXIX

Episode XV (originally published in June 1837): Chapters XL-XLII

Episode XVI (originally published in July 1837): Chapters XLIII-XLV

Episode XVII (originally published in August 1837): Chapters XLVI-XLVIII

Episode XVIII (originally published in September 1837): Chapters XLIX-LI

Episode XXIX & XX (originally published in October 1837 as a double issue): Chapters LII-LVII

Since that makes a total of 20 (XX) episodes, why don't you make 4 threads of 5 episodes each? Unless someone has a better suggestion, of course.

Kirsten (kmcripn) I've finished the first 3 episodes and they are hilarious!! Keep on thinking which British actors would be best in what part!!

(I think Warren Clarke - God rest his soul - would be great as Mr Wardle!)

Gisela Hafezparast | 116 comments This was the first Dickens I have ever read, purely because I found a beautiful old copy in a second hand book store. At first I wasn't at all sure what to make of these strange characters, but once you get used to the language and get to know the characters better it is a really funny book and a good entry into Dickens Victorian England.
