John Seymour 9. Which of the characters did you find most attractive? Which least attractive? Why?

Cordelia was my favourite character as she was a charming child and a straightforward adult determined to make her mark regardless of her family.

Sebastian was least attractive, I just cannot find morose drunkards appealing. Sorry. I understand why Charles loved him but I never could.

Jerry-Book | 18 comments Sebastian had some initial attractiveness but his debauchery turned me off. When Charles abetted his drunkenness, this made Charles less appealing. Lady Marchmain lost her children by the way she used religion. Lord Marchmain abandoned the family to live with his mistress. None of the characters were appealing but maybe Waugh was just being realistic.

John Seymour I agree with BW. Any child who can punk her future brother-in-law on a topic as important to her as the Catholic faith, is good stuff. Thinking about the sacred monkeys at the Vatican still makes me smile as it works on so many different levels. And of the Marchmains, she at least tries to live her faith.
