Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments If I stick to my End-of-Year TBR for 2016, I will finish with 8 prompts undone for the 2016 challenge. In light of that, I've decided I will not pick books in advance for 2017, but "go with the flow"--fitting the books I read into a prompt if they fit. I'm also only going to update once a month vs. every time I finish a book.

EDIT (2/17): Decided to pick a few books for prompts, but only those already on my TBR

EDIT (3/27): Yeah, changing the title of this plan to reflect that I totally went through and picked books for nearly every prompt--but every book on here was previously on my TBR!

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments It's time for my January update!

I read 14 books, 10 of which I counted for a prompt! 10/52 means I'm 19% done. Of course, January is always my best month for year-long challenges as it's easier to count every book read. As time goes on, I run out of categories and motivation.

I was surprised because I read several books for categories I thought would be hard to fill for me: a time-travel book, a book set in a fictional place, and a book with illustrations.

Right now I'm reading Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and Her Daughter Mary Shelley for prompt #18.

I want to read a few my less than favorite genres early as well but so far I haven't picked one yet!!! I am looking forward to reading the Underground Railroad once I get it from my library queue!!!

message 16: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments Last day of February and I won't start a new book today, so time for an update! I read 8 books this month and every one counted for a challenge so that's exciting! I'm 1/3 of the way done!

It's nice to get the "harder" challenges out of the way so when I'm less excited about the challenge later in the year, it'll be easier to continue!

I hope you like The Underground Railroad when you get to it!

message 18: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments Time for an update! I read 7 books and every book counted for a prompt. I also went through and added books from my TBR to prompts that fit. I also took account of all my 2017 reading challenges and basically made up a TBR for the rest of the year!

I'm almost halfway done with the challenge woot!

message 19: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments April update: I read 6 books and completed 6 prompts. I'm 62% done with the challenge! 31/52 done! 21 more to go!

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments I can't believe I never did my June wrap up--summer school's morphed my brain appaerently.

I read 6 books, 4 of which counted for a challenge. Only have 10 prompts left!

message 24: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments I finished 9 books this month, 5 of which counted for a prompt. I only have 7 prompts left, which means I've officially completed more prompts than I did last year, where I had 8 prompts left at the end of the year. Woot!

Of course, 5 of the 7 prompts are harder ones for me and I don't have any selections for those prompts yet. Might have to start going off of my TBR if I want to complete this year's challenge.

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments Read 8 books, 2 counted for prompts. Only have 5 prompts left, but 3 of them aren't that exciting to me.

Actually, my school work has picked up considerably this semester so my reading has slacked off overall. But I still want to complete the challenge if possible.

message 28: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments I actually thought I would not get any prompts done in September and then in the last week of the month I finished two! I read 7 books total. I have 3 prompts left--one for each month I suppose. I'm currently reading Norse Mythology for a prompt. The other 2 prompts I have left I still have not chosen a book for.

message 29: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments I finished In the Woods for prompt 41, so I have ONE left to go! Eek! The last one is #36--Hugo winner or nominee. I'm planning to read The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and then A Closed and Common Orbit (which is the Hugo nominee) in December.
