Please keep all discussion and speculation to the events of the Prologue and chapter 1 "FOMALHAUT B" through chapter 7 "PLANETARY GRAVEYARD".

No spoiler tags required. Though it would be highly appreciated if you Uncheck Add to my Update Feed to avoid accidentally spoiling things for your good read friends.

Please do not discuss events from later sections/books.

Pretty good start. I like the addition of Dimitri, but I'll miss the Master Sgt.

Things are pretty bleak though. They had to leave nearly 1000 people (including kids apparently) to suffocate. I don't really get why they radioed. Wouldn't it have been more humane not to? They didn't even seem to pick up final messages at all.

On towards earth!

Ctgt | 629 comments Have to agree about the radio communication...couldn't figure out why. It seemed like a clumsy attempt to add some names/faces to all the numbers?

Lindsay | 546 comments I get it. If nothing can be done, at least your passing was noticed.

Put it this way: what would feel worse? Not responding at all? Or acknowledging the message even if you can't do anything for them?

Dmitri is excellent, and I liked the action on the SRA colony as well as the look at where the NAC colony is at.

I think the weird behavior of the Lankies on the SRA colony is going to be important. Perhaps they're a hive mind with the seedships being some sort of central point?

Ctgt | 629 comments Kloos didn't have to add the moment into the narrative. Since he did, IMO it would have been more powerful if he had the captain continue on without any type of acknowledgement. We have a mission, we can't be sidetracked, we must accomplish what we set out to do.

That's a good point. They speculate the weird behavior may have to do with the destruction of the siege ship, but we basically know nothing about them at this point.
