New to Twitter - Need some guidance

Actually, I use Twitter all the time, and it drives traffic to my website. No sales that I can definitely trace to Twitter, but traffic nevertheless, and that's a chance for a sale. I've had no luck on Facebook, and success on Instagram probably depends on the genre of your writing.
Anything you tweet may or may not appear in your own news feed. It seems to be hit and miss. You have a page you can click on that shows only your tweets. But the number of other people who see it depends on how many followers you have, and how many retweets you get. I have a couple of dozen images with messages about my book or website that I tweet in rotation over several days so I won't be tweeting the same thing all day long, or even twice in two or three days.
I think it helps, and it certainly doesn't hurt. The only thing I would warn you about is people who want to sell you thousands of followers. Do not buy followers; they aren't real, and you'll only waste your money. If you see those people following you, and they will, ignore them and don't follow back.

Mostly correct, but not entirely correct. I've had tweets retweeted that were a couple of days old (don't ask how, I don't know). They do stay out there sometimes. You can also pin a tweet, preferably with an image, so that it can be seen by anyone who looks at your profile. I have one that has reached over 3000 and retweeted a dozen or more times.

Twitter is kind of boring
Facebook is better
and Instagram too
You can run a Facebook Advert and a Twitter Advert !
That will help
Make you synopsis beautiful and a good book cover matters :) :)

Do's and Don'ts For Twitter:
Do:
-Take part in Twitter chats
-RT and like if something interests you
-Respond to messages tweeted to you.
-Make use of Twitter lists
-Follow people who follow you and if what they do is in the same interest and work as you.
-Check out SocialRank and see who your top followers are, make a list for them so you know if you want to do something big, they are the people to talk with.
-Clean out your followers every once in a while so it's refreshed and your following the right people
-Use hashtags effectively and whenever you can
Don'ts:
-Do Not Spam at anytime: Books, talking about your books, gloating about yourself, etc.
-Follow someone with no info or no pic- they are likely a bot or just not someone you need to follow back
-Certain Businesses- It's fine to follow publishers, book marketers and such but if they are in a business that doesn't relate to you, just let them follow you.
-Have Auto DM set up- This is a biggy. I've heard countless people say the minute someone automatically direct messages them they get unfollowed. Don't set up auto DM, If you want to message someone, Tweet to them or message them yourself and act human!
I am new to Twitter. I tried to post the sale of my book on Kindle Free Promotions, but I don't see it on the page. Does Twitter work like Facebook? Meaning- does it show up on a "visitor's feed?"
Any info would help....and friends...I have no friends.. ;)
Thanks!!!
