A book based on mythology

"Rowling takes us in a "brief" journey into the fantastic world of these beast and creatures, The Great thing here is that some of those are common, even famous among our "Real" world.. such as the paranormal, mysterious creatures like "Loch Ness" , "Bigfoot" and even the trolls.
or the legendary from famous myths and legends like "Dragons", "Phoenix" ,"Sphinx" and even unicorn"
I think it counts? Anyone else have an opinion on whether I could count this??

Also Medea would probably count.

I think it would definitely count for the prompt about having a mythical creature; as for based on mythology, it's kind of a stretch. Like this has creatures that appear in mythological stories, but it doesn't really involve the myths themselves. Up to you as to how strict you want to be.

I read Bear & the Nightingale for this prompt too! It's a great book :)

Kristin wrote: "Would "Grendel" by John Gardner work? It's a reselling of the Old English poem, Beowulf, from the perspective of the antagonist."
I just Googled "is Beowulf a myth" and got several pages saying YES, it is based on Norse / Danish mythology.

The Amazons are from Greek mythology so it would definitely work

It is middle grade (maybe early YA?) but it's really not overly angsty. I gave it 3 stars because I enjoyed it, but some of the characters really got on my nerves. Very interested in seeing where the author goes with it in the second installment.

and, hey! Neil Gaiman (almost guaranteed to be a fun read (I own it))

I would also recommend Hades' Daughter which is the first book of The Troy Game Series.
