Elora Mitchell | 578 comments I love your challenge. I don't think I could do it. I'm totally an amazon book deal junkie. :)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments I'd probably just cheat and add all those books to my TBR.

This idea may have passed my mind already :) But on the plus side I can not abide having a long tbr list so I should be able to temp myself (hopefully :)

I figured it had....knowing you and all the little tricks you have when you read (airplane mode, etc.)

I agree about the TBR. I spent most of December trying to read off of it. Unfortunately, it only got longer.

I don't know where my challenge went! hahaha I will repost it.

My challenge for 2017 is as follows:

1. Only read books in my current GR tbr pile - the only exception is the Hidden Gem reads here of course
2. I would like to continue the practice of only reading the Hidden Gem books if they are available to me on audiobook if possible because I tend to get through audiobooks faster due to my daily drive to and from work
3. I will NOT purchase any audiobooks or kindle books unless they are already in my TBR pile and/or I am willing to add them to my current TBR pile. As I said earlier - I am very particular about the amount of books in my TBR pile so this should keep me focused on this goal. If I do buy an audio or ebook I will add it to my tbr pile right after the purchase so I don't forget.

That is it! I am hoping this will impact my pocketbook positively as well as stop the addition of any more unread books in my Audible and Kindle - I already have too many of those!

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments oh man. My pile of books that isn't read is about 1500 on kindle and over 300 in my house in physical copy so I definitely don't need to buy books but it happens so I hear you so much on your goal. lol. I've been trying to clear out my to-read list on good reads to books I want to purchase so I can make more informed decisions :)

Good luck Kaylani! So far so good for me. I have not purchased anything yet in 2017. I also just donated two big boxes of my read books to the library today :)

2017 has pretty much been a wash for me reading wise. I have barely read anything and my audiobook listens have decreased significantly. Rather than beat myself up about it, (as my husband always says - reading should be for pleasure, it is not a chore), I think my plan is to finish up what I can this year and dedicate 2018 back to finding my way back to my love of reading. Real life has somewhat gotten in the way of my fantasy (reading) life this year. I am hoping to find more of a balance between the two in 2018.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I hope you are able to find a good balance, Heidi :)

Well 2017 was a sad year as far as book reading goals for me. I take solace in the fact that it is now a new year and at least I was still reading throughout 2017 and did not give up reading all together. As my husband always points out - reading should be for enjoyment not a chore. All in all, I did stick to my 2017 goal to only read books I own and that were already in my tbr list here so there is that... :)
