6: A book being released as a movie in 2017

The Circle
- Are you planning on seeing the movie?
Maybe. I don't go to the theater a lot so probably not.
- What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
Mystic River or L.A. Confidential.

- What are you reading for this category?

- Are you planning on seeing the movie?
Yes, I hope so
- What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
Brokeback Mountain, if that counts - it was a short story

Are you planning on seeing the movie? Yes, definitely. I've heard it's great. As it will open to wide release on Jan 13, I wanted to read the book pretty early on in the year and follow up with the movie. For me, both Endō and Scorsese are, respectively, a much loved author and a favorite movie director.
What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation? The Godfather

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Are you planning on seeing the movie?
Hopefully. It's not on the schedules for my local cinemas, but I'm in New York next weekend so I'm definitely going to try and squeeze it in.
What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
My first reaction was I didn't like any, but thinking about it I actually loved The Help, I also enjoy the Jesse Stone adaptations and thought Pray for Silence was good. For all these I saw the movie first, so maybe that's the key to not being disappointed and annoyed at the changes. Nearly forgot the Lord of the Rings movies! But I've not read those books so it makes it easier.

The Gunslinger - Stephen King
Are you planning on seeing the movie?
I am thinking about it. I just don't go to the theater a lot.
What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
I would have to say the Harry Potter movies. I thought they were just as good (or almost as good :) as the books. Mostly, I just prefer reading the books. Movies leave so much out, which is understandable.

I only go to the movie theater once ever two years or so but will probably watch it when it is available online.
- What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
I thought that the Martian was well done, I didn't expect to like it all but turned out to be a favorite movie I watched last year.

I'm reading The House of Tomorrow for this prompt, although I'm reading A Dog's Life: The Autobiography of a Stray and Rise of the Rocket Girls: The Women Who Propelled Us, from Missiles to the Moon to Mars for other prompts.
Are you planning on seeing the movie?

Probably Fight Club. It's one of the most accurate book adaptations there is. I really do enjoy the Pride and Prejudice adaptions as well.

Murder on The Orient Express
Will I be watching the movie?
Depends on whether the trailer of the movie is intriguing and it's cast.
Favorite book to movie adaptation:
Harry Potter: The Chamber of Secrets

- What are you reading for this category?

- Are you planning on seeing the movie? It is being turned into a TV series next month and unlike the majority of book>movies adaptations coming out, I might actually watch it.
- What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation? The only movie I have seen that I thought was better than the book was The Princess Bride - okay book, good movie.

- Are you planning on seeing the movie?
Yes, it's probably a book that works better as a movie with all the mystery and strangeness of the place.
- What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
I've several that I liked better than the book. I think some of my favorites are Divergent, the 1st Lord of the Rings and Alice in Wonderland movies (by Burton).

probably

The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann
- Are you planning on seeing the movie?
It depends on how I feel about the book. I don't quite see how this will work but I'm kind of intrigued.
- What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
The Invention of Hugo Cabret but I saw the movie before I listened to the book on audible and I've only just this year read the book. Still, it is a beautiful adaptation and it really lends itself to the subtle 3d in the movie.

Are you planning on seeing the movie? Probably not. Especially since this is a mystery that I know the ending to.
What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation? I very rarely think that movies meet or exceed the quality of the book but one exception to that rule is The Godfather.

Are you planning on seeing the movie? Absolutely!
What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation? The Fellowship of the Ring by far.

The Handmaid's Tale

Yes, apparently there is a movie from the 90's, but I am most looking forward to the Hulu Mini-Series
- What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
That's a hard one because I tend to be slightly disappointed by the books. Maybe, The Last Unicorn cartoon cause it follows the story very well.

- What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation? Ummmm lol it'd be much easier to list my WORST book2films. Case in point- that monstrosity calling itself The Giver. *shudders* But if you wanted to know my favorite... I'd have to say Lord of the Rings. It's superb. (This does not include the bloated Hobbit adaptions...those fall under the "worst" category)

As a reluctant young reader I found that I really enjoyed watching the movie first and then reading the book 2nd Beaches was the first book that I read and loved after watching the movie! As an adult I prefer the book first tho!

The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
Are you planning on seeing the movie?
Yes, if only because I watch 99% of the screen adaptations of things I read. I do like the cast, though, so I'm looking forward to it.
What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
I think The Lord of the Rings are fantastic adaptations (except for what they did to Faramir) and are what got me to read the books and fall in love with them.

Are you planning on seeing the movie?
I'd like to see it but I'll probably wait until it's on DVD.

All time favorite adaptation - To Kill a Mockingbird

It by Stephen King

The Zookeeper's Wife: A War Story
Are you planning on seeing the movie?
Yes and I think it will be better than the book even! The book was just too slow!

Murder on the Orient Express
Are you planning on seeing the movie?
Most likely, yes
What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
I don't know. I remember seeing one a few years ago, and being super pleasantly surprised by it. I'm going to go with The Martian for now, even though I read the book after I watched the movie.

A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron
Are you planning on seeing the movie?
Definitely. It was the movie trailer that drew me to the book ... it had me in tears.
What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?
Hard one, as I'm usually disappointed in movie adaptions. I think the ones I have liked the best are where I watch the movie first which I like so much it draws me to the book; The Perks of Being A Wallflower and Never Let Me Go are two examples of this.
