Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments A Christmas Carol is wonderful - it's one of those few books that I've read recently where I'd been really familiar with the story, yet still really enjoyed reading. Will you read it at Christmas time?

message 3: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Maloney (desertrose0601) Not sure. I recently watched the Muppets Christmas Carol, so the story is kind of on my brain right now. So I might read it soon. Or I might just wait for next Christmas. Haven't decided yet.

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments If you like audiobooks (and Neil Gaiman's voice), you can find a free version of A Christmas Carol read by him on the internet!

message 5: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Maloney (desertrose0601) Oooh! Intriguing! I'll check that out, thanks!!

message 6: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Maloney (desertrose0601) Thanks! I'm looking forward to it!

message 7: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Maloney (desertrose0601) Well I rejiggered my list again today. This is the second time in 3 months that I've done that. I guess we'll see how many more times I'll do that before the year is up! Lol.

Basically I removed some books that I wasn't feeling as excited about and added in some that I've recently learned about that sound pretty cool. Gotta keep that momentum up!

message 8: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments That's why I went no plan this year - I was way too rigid last year, lost all momentum and just didn't finish. I'm loving being free again this year!

message 9: by Anna (new)

Anna | 1007 comments I like your expression "rejigger", I call it shifting my books around, but I do it regularly too. :)

Ha! Thank you! Yes I love re-organizing lists so it works for me. I always find new ones that sound interesting or look at my list and find that some of the ones I'd listed no longer sound interesting. So hey... what can you do? Lol. As long as I keep reading, it's all good, right?

message 11: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments I'm so behind right now that I went and redid a whole bunch of my challenges, basically whatever I've managed to read, I fit in somewhere :/

Jennifer Maloney (desertrose0601) Tracy wrote: "I'm so behind right now that I went and redid a whole bunch of my challenges, basically whatever I've managed to read, I fit in somewhere :/"

Yes I did a bit of that too. I found some other books that I really wanted to read that weren't on my list, so I made them fit. :D

message 13: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Maloney (desertrose0601) Oooh! I figured out how to put bookcovers in my list. So pretty! :D

message 14: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments Not the most easy way to quickly scan your list, but definitely pretty ;)

message 15: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Maloney (desertrose0601) True! 😂 It's a work in progress. I might add the titles back in there at some point.

message 16: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Maloney (desertrose0601) I must say... even though I'm probably not going to finish this challenge... it has encouraged me to pick books that I wouldn't ordinarily read. So for that I've really appreciated this challenge!

message 17: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 704 comments I think that reading outside of my usual comfort zone has really turned me on to some great books and writers. Maybe you could do a search for some great shorter novels or novellas to get you closer to your goal. I've read some really excellent ones this year that were in the 180 to 220 page range.

message 18: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Maloney (desertrose0601) Okay I think I'm going to be officially done for this year. Technically I have a couple days left, but I doubt I'll get anything else read in that time.

Also, I categorized my read books by star rating. I had a lot of 4 and 5 star reads this year! Hopefully next year will be just as good! :)
