Sarah I read "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris for this category. My friend recommended it to me. It was OK, I don't think I would read it a second time though.

Jose Maria (josemariagarcia) I've just finished "Method 15/33" by Shannon Kirk. I put it in this category because it doesn't fit in the others, basically. A lot of booktubers I follow recommended it, so I gave it a try. It's fine, I guess, it has some cool parts and is fast to read, but a bit disappointing, after all the hype about it.

I had several people recommend this book to me and I'm so glad I read it before the HBO series comes out next month! I loved this book and I am so happy to see it come to life with some very talented actors! Murder, mystery, pain, healing, friendship, finding love again....brilliant!

Cyndy (cyndy-ksreader) | 231 comments I read Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi for this category. It was recommended by a cousin that reads as mush or more than me. I highly recommend this book. It was a page turner for me, even though at the beginning of each chapter I went back to the geneology to see who was who in the eight generations of this family saga. It might be looked at as each chapter is a short story about an individual. Favorite quote and something worth remembering - "We believe the one who has the power. He is the one who gets to write the story. So when you study history, you must always ask yourself, Whose story am I missing? Whose voice was suppressed so that this voice could come forth?" -- Gyasi, Yaa. Homegoing: A novel (Kindle Locations 3847-3849). Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.

Stephanie C (the_book_lady) I was looking for a humor book for my genre Bingo game at the high school I teach at, and a fellow English teacher recommended "Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons" - great mixture of fun, poignancy, and friendships from a group of women who form lasting bonds within their book club.
