Anybody else like to purchase books to collect rather than read? For example, I like to pick up books from Time-Life series like Dragons The Enchanted World and Great Ages of Man Historic India A History of the World's Cultures, Time Life Books. I like to shop at used book sales to collect to have complete sets and series. Anybody else like to collect books like some people collect stamps? Or am I unique nut? ;-)

Kelley Anne lol, I don't really collect books like that. Except that if I have part of a series, I have to buy the entire series. Even if I can read the book somewhere else, like the library or ebook. If I have one, have to have them all!!!

Kaz. I'm the same Kelley Anne, I can't have any missing out of a set, it has to be the complete set or it will drive me nuts.
No Joseph your not the only nut around, LOL.

Lauren, it makes perfect sense. Even if I may only read or make use of a couple books from a nonfiction set, I'll keep my eyes open for the rest of them. I hate having incomplete series, be it fiction or nonfiction.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I used to collect certain authors. I'd read the books and even if I didn't always like the book I kept their books b/c it was in the collection. I'd read and sell/swap other books to make room for my fave authors whose books were often in the double digits.

I saw that a girl I borrowed V C Andrews from had ALL the books (in the 90's) and so I wanted to have ALL the books of my fave authors too. I would seem to have more incomplete collections of several authors though. So I focused on popular, favorite authors and fared better.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I used to collect "classics" thinking I'd break down and read them someday but space became an issue and I had to give up a lot of my books. I try to keep only those I'm sure I'll want to reread some day. Thats still a couple of hundred :)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) I can't have a fragmented series...it doesn't work...I have to finish it but I always read them.

Like with the Dark hunter series I own Fantasy Hunter, Devil May Cry, Acheron, and Bad Moon Rising...I HAVE to fix that. Its bugging me inside :P

Kelley Anne That drives me crazy too. At the moment, I technically own all of the dark hunter series, but some of them I have in book form, and others in audiobook. It will bug me until I have them all in book form!

Usually I can hold off filling in holes in my series collections until I can find them for sale used, but there was one time where I just couldn't wait. Back in high school I went to my local Borders and bought all in one go the 18 books out of the 22 I needed to complete my Encyclopedia Brown collection. When I walked up to the counter with the pile in my hands, the cashier's jaw literally dropped. I remember wondering what the big deal was. lol
