Though Alex seeks out Nathan for help, she's never really forthcoming with him. Did you understand her reasoning? Seem like the right thing to do? When do you believe he earned the right to be told the whole truth about Melanie?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments This was one of my issues with Alex. She wanted Nathan's help without giving him all the necessary information. She wanted him to trust her, but wasn't willing to do the same.

That was my problem with Alex, too. She didn't play fair.

Quynh (quynh_o) | 134 comments I wonder if she held back because Nathan had reservations about whether Melanie was indeed in danger, or maybe she thought that he's a cop who sticks with other cops, even if they are dirty. It bothered me that she sought out his help but didn't disclose what she knew or her plans, especially when she took off to New Orleans.

Those are good points for consideration, Quynh.

Laura I thought she should have trusted him 100% from the very beginning. They have a background together, and he proved himself trustworthy in the last book. She went to him after all. Without all the facts he was flying blind through a lot of his investigation.

That's what I couldn't understand about this character, Laura. He'd already proved himself and she went to him.

Nathan ended up being right, Melanie turned up alive. Nathan should have said, I told you so.

That's what I thought as well. Alex was very much in the wrong on this and she should have admitted as much.
