End goal
UGH SOMETIMES WRITING IS HARD
Okay, okay. His mom has borderline personality disorder and major depressive disorder, but he doesn't know it, and neither does she. Does she kill herself somewhere in the book? Or at the end? Or do we give the readers a happy ending where she gets help? Who really likes happy endings though? Don't we want to torture our characters?
Will his dad divorce his mom, and if he does, will he try to get full custody of the kids? What will Ryder think of all of this? What about little Leah? How does she fit into all of this? The innocence is lost? Or she makes up her own little world to escape to?

Mean girl persona, very insecure, dad beats her at home. Friendless for the most part, pushy, crushing on Ryder.
She doesn't know how to express her feelings though, especially not in a positive way, so she bothers him constantly. Any attention is good attention, right?
Thoughts
Could he really need her, more than she needed him? And if so, how could he process that? Could he pretend to not notice, and stay with her anyway?
Could one fall in love with two girls at once?

Once a nemesis, but possibly a love later on in the book?
Jack Taylor
Best friends with Ryder, has known him since pre-k. Inseparably most of the time, in the beginning dating Amy, but later on dating Coco, making Xander jealous because he's in love with Coco. Ryder's confidante, know's the in's and out's of Ryder's life, including the dark parts.
Coco
Best friends with Shay, ends up being Ryder's best 'chick' friend.
Family
Mother
The hidden MC of the book, she has mental illness but denies wanting help for it. She ends up killing herself, Ryder finds her.
Leah
7 year old sister, broken over what he found her mother doing. She went from being independent and assertive, to clingy and unable to make any decisions, adding on tantrums as well.
Nanna
Ryder's grandmother, very close to the family. She's he's saving grace when it comes to him holding onto his sanity.
