Charles McCormack | 72 comments I am interested in joining a review group but for the life of me can't figure out how it's done. I feel pretty stupid but it is what is. Can anyone help me out with the process?

message 2: by Neil (new)

Neil Carstairs | 662 comments New groups will have 'Now Forming' in the name to show they are accepting members. They are usually genre specific but can also be 'General' fiction rounds. Sign up to the round that best suits your work by posting your Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ author and book link and confirming you have read the rules.

Once you have been accepted the reading list will be allocated by the moderator to ensure we keep to our non-reciprocal reviews rule.

Rounds will consist of reading and reviewing 4 books in 12 weeks unless it is a novella round when it is 4 in 8.

All reviews must be posted no matter what the rating.

Hope that helps any other questions feel free to ask

Justin Bohardt | 18 comments Might have missed it, but didn't see this in the FAQs. With what frequency are new groups formed?

Thanks!

Where do I see this "Now Forming"? And where do I express my availability for "Romantic thrillers'?

Welcome, Linda!

The introduce yourself thread is here: /topic/show/...

New reading rounds should be forming soon. Keep checking back!

In the meantime, there's always the one-for-one thread if you'd like to pick a book from there to get started!

Hi June! Welcome :) Children's books are very welcome to join. At the moment we do not have any open rounds, which is why none of them say "now forming" however I expect new rounds will form in the next few days, so check back. I've sent a message to EM, who opens the rounds, and hopefully she will touch base with you if you don't happen to see when the new rounds pop up.

Hi PL! Yes, so long as you have finished all of your assigned reading for your previous round and posted all your review links, you are able to join a new round. I believe EM said she will be opening more rounds shortly. Hope this helps :)

Hi LB! Our rounds usually aren't quite that specific as even when we tried forming a "romance" round, it stayed open for two months and didn't get enough participants. I might suggest that you enter either the 18+ round or the Out of this World round.

Hi Wayne! We should have some rounds starting very soon. We don't usually have a specific sci fi group, but we do have an "Out of This World" round, which will have sci fi, fantasy, paranormal, etc. Hope to see you there!

In the meantime, please check out our one for one list. You can choose any book you like from the list, read it and post your review links from Gr/Amz in the thread, and then your book will be added to the list from someone else to choose and review. No waiting required.

Hi Dennis! You need to go to your Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Author page (click on your avatar or your name where you're posting in a thread and it will take you there) and copy the link. That's your author info.

On your Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ author page, you will see a list of all the books you have written. Copy the link for the book you want and paste it into a new message. That's your book info.

You will need to send a review copy to anyone who is reviewing your book. At a minimum, pdfs should be provided. If you do not feel like you can do this, then you should not sign up for a review round. Hope this helps.

message 35: by Kat (new)

Kat (katwiththehat) | 2277 comments Wayne wrote: "Thanks Kat. Is there supposed to be a way to get a free review copy? Thanks."

Wayne, sorry that I'm just now seeing this. You'll need to message each author and ask for a review copy. This is made trickier because GR recently updated their settings and now automatically puts everyone's settings to where they do not receive private messages. You have to manually switch it over to be able to receive private messages from strangers, which is good for preventing spam, but bad if people need to get a copy of your book to review and maybe your book has been on the list for a while and you haven't been back to check in with this group recently.

So I would say that if you have a kindle unlimited subscription, that's great because you don't need to message the author, just start reading! If you don't, then pick 5-6 books that look interesting and see if you can find a few where the author has their messaging turned on. Hope this helps.

message 36: by Aryama (new)

Aryama Srivastav | 11 comments Hello everyone ,
I would love to exchange reads and reviews for these

message 37: by Kat (new)

Kat (katwiththehat) | 2277 comments Aryama, I think you've already posted in a review round, so one of the mods in charge of those will help you with further instructions for how to get started there.

Another option in this group is the one for one list. To participate there, you go to the first post of the thread where the books are listed, choose a book that looks interesting to you and review it on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ and Amz. After you have done so, post the links for your review in a new post in the thread, along with the link for your book, and the mod for that thread will add your book for someone else to choose and review.

Sinmisola | 20 comments Hi everyone. I guess I'm coming in a little late but I'd like to join a review round. How do I know when the next one starts? I'll like a general round. Thank you.

message 39: by Kat (new)

Kat (katwiththehat) | 2277 comments Hi Sinmisola!

Right now the only round we have open is a mystery/thriller round, but check back, because we will have more groups forming soon. Look for a round that says "now forming" in the thread title.

/topic/group...

There's also the one for one list. No waiting is necessary. Choose any book off the list that interests you. Read and review. Once you have posted your links on GR/Amz, your book will be added to the list for someone else to choose. See the first post of the thread for more instructions.

/topic/show/...

If you send me a private message, I will do my best to message you when we have new rounds starting.

Hope this helps.

Susana Henschel (susana_henschel) | 5 comments Hi all! Is there a review group for Indie Poetry authors?

message 42: by P.L. (new)

P.L. Tavormina | 282 comments Susana wrote: "Hi all! Is there a review group for Indie Poetry authors?"

I think (but might be wrong) that poetry collections can go under other categories. Sometimes there is a novella round, which draws works under 40000 words. I think poetry could also go under a general round. Depending on the poetry, it could go in additional rounds (clean, etc).

message 43: by Kat (new)

Kat (katwiththehat) | 2277 comments Hi Susanna!

You could join a general round when one is open. You could also join a clean round if your poetry does not contain graphic violence or sexual imagery. I believe the novella round would be fine, too.

Look for a round that says "now forming" in the title. We open new rounds every few weeks.

/topic/group...

To join a review round, you will need to set your messaging status to receive messages from anyone. Right now yours are set to private.

In order to participate in this round, your setting for 'Who Can Send Me Private Messages' needs to be 'anyone'.
Please follow this link to check - and if necessary change - your privacy setting.

/user/edit?t...

If you fix your messaging status, and send me a private message, I will add you to the list of people who would like to be notified the next time there are new rounds. There are 2-3 other people new to the group who I am also contacting. Or you can just check back on your own.

We also have the one for one list. To participate in this list, pick any book you want to read from the first post of the list. After you have read the book and posted your review links from GR/Amz, your book will be added to the list for someone else to choose. Full instructions are in the first post of the list.

Hope this helps!

message 44: by P.L. (new)

P.L. Tavormina | 282 comments Not sure the best place to ask this, but I'm curious if there's interest in a novella round. I think it's been a cycle or two since there's been one? I have a new novella out soon and so I'm wondering about it.

No worries either way. I'm also looking for an OOTW round. :)

Hi Debbie! One of the requirements for participating in a reading round or in the one for one list is that you have pdfs available for reviewers.

Your books are in KU, so it's likely some people in the round would read them that way, and if you used your free promo days for your 90 day KDP cycle to set your book to free, probably some of the others who don't have KU could grab a copy that way. But yes, the rules do state you need to have a pdf available at a minimum for anyone who might not read on a kindle and needs a review copy.
