I've been following this one, what there is to follow at this point. So strange - did he think no one would notice that he went out in his homemade submarine with just one passenger and came back with none?

message 102: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18306 comments The virtual papers make him sound like sort of a kook, but...

message 103: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments More info on this - blood has been found in the submarine, and the torso has been identified via DNA as journalist Wall. The torso was also weighted down and ventilated, according to reports (via Twitter).

message 104: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18306 comments "Torso"? She was in pieces?

message 105: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments Unfortunately, yes. The torso was found by a bicycler just hours after the dude changed his story to say she was killed accidentally and 'buried at sea'. No head, legs, or arms have been found yet as far as I know, although divers are looking. The purposeful dismemberment makes the death, er, rather suspicious.

message 106: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18306 comments As did his original ridiculous story about burying her at sea.

message 107: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments Yeah, the oddest thing is how quick this all had to have happened. He claimed to have set her ashore within hours of having launched, and sank within one day - so she had to have been killed, dismembered, ventilated, and weighed down within a few hours, before he sank. Did he have tools on board with which to do the deed?

message 108: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18306 comments And, of course, one wonders why.

message 109: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments I'm guessing he made advances and she, stuck on a submarine with no help, fought back. He killed her either while trying to subdue her and/or to shut her up. But that leaves us with the question: why, if he did, did he have enough equipment on board to dismember her? And of course, it could be even stranger than this.

Adding getting on a submarine to my list of things to not do.

And, of course of course, she may not be the first "burial at sea."

Does it really take FIVE guys to rob a beauty supply store? What did they take, for Pete's sake, bottles of hair color?

SouthWestZippy This is Clovis New Mexico. It is about 3 hours from me. I have lots of friends who live there. I will keep you posted, if able. SO sad and terrifying!
Clovis police responding to active shooter at Clovis-Carver Public Library

Erin | 376 comments I'll keep them in my thoughts.

I work at a public Library and last year we had to go though active shooter training.

A Library should be a sanctuary.

SouthWestZippy Update
Six shot, two dead.

I worked when I was younger in a public library for 4 1/2 years and I would have never thought it would come to having to have to do active shooter training in a safety training class.

I work at a children's mental health clinic and we had to go through one, too.

SouthWestZippy One of my friends knew everyone involved. "sigh" It has taken a toll on her young daughter who was close to one of the ladies killed.

Paid leave, while people are up in arms about this having worked in DOCS HR this is sometimes used to force someone to quit. As for actually charging him with assault (as some say he deserves) that's not going to happen.

message 122: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18306 comments Imagine having no way to hold a killer accountable other than to hire an expensive attorney and sue the guy, because the killing wasn't even mildly illegal. That's what we have going on here right now:

I guess Bill V. is making a statement about teen sex crimes. Phew. I wish there were more detail on what actually happened.

I never heard of Coricidin causing a blackout, but a lot of the kids around here do what they call "Robotripping." You drink a whole bottle of Robitussin and go psychotic for a week or so. You never remember afterwards what happened. The two medicines have some active ingredients in common.

Of course he could have just up and stabbed her and claimed it was the cold medicine talking. Time will tell...

Fishface | 18306 comments I also just about had a stroke yesterday listening to a news show. The host said there have been 2500 gun deaths in Chicago so far this year. I looked it up and found 330 gun deaths as of today.

She must have meant 2500 shootings. But still.
