Thanks to a suggestion from Kenjii, I have created a new bookshelf title "bought-in-8-09" for everyone to add all of their purchases made this month, August of 2009.

http://www.goodreads.com/group/booksh...

I'll make a new shelf when we hit September and so on.

Kelley Anne Here's my list of current purchases this month.
It's probably going to end up being a lot shorter than I would hope becuase my main mp3 player just died and I need to buy a new one! That'll take away from my book spending money! hmmm....or maybe I'll just work some extra hours instead! Lots of good books to buy this month!

Audible.com
My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent
Fool Moon by Jim Butcher
Bad Moon Rising by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder
Glass Houses by Rachel Caine
Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder
Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning

Borders
Feast of Fools by Rachel Caine
Carpe Corpus by Rachel Caine
Intertwined by Gena Showalter
Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning

Barnes and Noble
Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

Walmart
Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs

Update - I am feeling proud of myself. It's the 10th, and I've only bought 6 books! That's less than 1 a day! Let's see if I can keep that up.

Kelley Anne So I found a quote that fits our group perfectly!

"I am simply a "book drunkard." Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them." L.M. Montgomery

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I like that quote. So true.

That's an awesome quote!

What a great quote.
A favorite quote of mine that I always share with anyone who says I buy too many books is from the wise scholar Desiderus Erasmus: "When I get a little money, I buy books. And if I have any left, I buy food and clothes." :-)

message 23: by Linda (new)

Linda Here's another great quote that expresses my attitude precisely:

"I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves." Anna Quindlen

message 24: by Linda (last edited Aug 13, 2009 03:57PM) (new)

Linda Here is a list of books I believe I bought so far in August, all of them for .50 at my library's used book store:

Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan
The Kite Runner
Night Bye Elie Wiesel
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
Blessings by Anna Quindlen
Henderson the Rain King by Saul Bellow
Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
The Ultimate Gift by Jim Stovall

I may have missed a few but those are my most recent purchases.

Nice Linda. I shop SO much, maybe too much, at the libraries' used book shelves. :-)

message 26: by Linda (last edited Aug 15, 2009 07:29PM) (new)

Linda One more I forgot about cuz I gave it to my son:
Enemy at the Gate: The Battle for Stalingrad

I try to be (somewhat) discerning about the books I actually purchase. I am working on the "1001 Books You Must Read before You Die" list, so whenever I see a good deal on a title from that list that I intend to read, I snag it.

We're just supposed to post our book purchases here, correct? not directly on the Shelf? And where do we go to see the Shelf of books the Group bought this month?

Actually, I did mean for everyone to put their purchases on the group's shelf here: http://www.goodreads.com/group/booksh...

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Linda: Click on BOOKSHELF> ADD BOOK [SEARCH BOX:], THEN YOU'LL SEE WHERE YOU CAN CLICK> READ>TO READ AND CHOOSE SHELF TO ADD 'BOUGHT IN'/'READ IN'. DOES THAT HELP?

message 29: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) I have to go to the library tomorrow and look at their used book selection 50 cents is too good a bargain to pass up.

message 30: by Linda (new)

Linda Duh, I didn't see the Group Bookshelf link over at the right. I went ahead and added my books.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic GG Linda =D.
