Here's one which I bet almost everyone in here has read, but if you haven't well you better DEAR this book. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. You need to meet Liesel and Hans Hubermann and Rudy! Oh, and by DEAR I mean throwback to fifth grade drop everything and read.

I own this and have yet to read it ! Oh, dear!

The Book Thief is a really original book. You know how a lot of books are just same book/plot, different character names? Well this one isn't like that at all. The imagery is gorgeous. I know many people have been moved to tears by this book (not me, I only cry during Zales commercials). If you like a book which will make you feel something, you should definately bump this book to the top of your TBR. :-)

The other day I ran into my Aunt at the mall & I literally grabbed her by the arm and dragged her into the bookstore so I can watch her buy it.

I have not read it either. :( I checked it out from the library twice and still have not managed to read it.

I checked it out from the library once, and never got around to reading it. Then I bought it, and of course felt obligated to read it. :-)

Hmmm, maybe we need to schedule a group reading for this one then. lol. Group reads are usually good motivators.

Um, I don't have time to read it this month and I'm taking Laura's emerald/diamond suggestion. This means I have to read I Am the Messenger first before TBT. :/

yeah, I read Book Thief before Laura and her jewels came around, but I've waited a long time since reading Book Thief so I don't think Messenger could lose anything by it.

Oh I cried like a baby. I definately suggest this book for this months book read. In fact, I'll go gander at the choices and add it if someone hasn't already.

I read TBT first and then Messenger IMMEDIATELY after, and I don't think that Messenger lost anything because of it. They are both wonderful, but completely different books, so there's almost no comparison.

I may change my vote to TBT just to help it win so that people will read it!!

But wait, TBT was just the WT group read... Hmmm... No. I'm sticking with my TB vote.

This book doesn't fit in any of our time periods, so I'll throw it in here. I really enjoyed People of the Book. It goes back and forth between a person who preserves antique books (I forget the term) and the people in the past who've owned the book she's preserving.

Thought of another one: Girl in Hyacinth Blue. This is more like a series of related short stories, tracing the owners of a fictional Vermeer painting back to the beginning. I think readers who like Girl With a Pearl Earring will like this one too.

We had Dear when i was in elementary school.

I was looking around for more stuff to put on my TBR list and found this list of recently released HFs. There was a lot of stuff I've never heard of that looks interesting.

Can anyone suggest a fictional book that takes place during the Hundred Years War?. I already read Katherine. Would The White Queen count? It takes place a little after the Hundred Years War but it's about the Lancasters.
