Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Over in a Flash - hopefully will be a reoccurring challenge.

I stole this idea (with permission) from the SOS: Serious Overload of Series group.

Over in a Flash ~ Cover Hunt & Theme Challenge ~
Duration: September 1st through September 30th.

Rules: Read at least 2 books with the following themes, or items found on their covers, or colors from the options below. Be sure to post your book covers, dates read, and star ratings. Feel free to do as many as you want, as many times as you wish.

Member Choosing: Trish has been a GoodReads member since February, 2013, and a participant of Happily Ever After Café since June, 2016. As to why she volunteered for August, she tells us:
My son will be 13 September 10th, he is into baseball, basketball, skateboarding and playing video games. He loves the summer time because of playing in the pool. His favorite colors are orange and blue.

As for me, I am married with 2 kids and lots of furbabies, I am a Certified Medical Assistant at a OB/Gyn office so I get to see babies a lot and I love it!! I'm a photographer on the side; I'm also writing my first book on Wattpad; there are only two chapters up at the moment and its a work in progress ‘cause I‘ve never written anything before. LOL! I‘m a very down to earth kind of person; I love making things and reading all sorts of genres.
COLORS: Orange or Blue - son’s favorite colors!

SEPTEMBER THEMES - Anything to do with Summer: (1) National Blueberry Popsicle Day: {September 2nd} Read a book that is predominantly “blueberry in color. (2) Buy A Book Day: {September 7th} Buy a Book Day was created for the purpose of reminding people how much joy simple black print on a white background can bring when it awakens your imagination and transports you far away. Read a book that you actually purchased. Go ahead & splurge - get one just for this challenge! LOL! (3) National Salami Day: {September 7th} Salami is a cured, fermented and air-dried sausage that was historically popular among Southern European peasants because it can be stored at room temperatures for up to 30 to 40 days once it has been cut. Read a book that has been fermenting on your shelf awhile. (4) Pardon Day: {September 8th) On this day in 1974, newly installed President Gerald Ford issued a Presidential Proclamation pardoning President Richard M. Nixon of any wrong doing related to the Watergate scandal. Give an author or a series you’ve given up on one more shot and read a book by them. (5) National Chocolate Milkshake Day: {September 12th} In 1922, a Walgreen’s employee added Horlick’s malted milk powder to a mixture and the first malted shake was born. When Steven Poplawski invented the electric blender in 1922, the texture of milkshakes changed from smooth, thick & creamy to the frothy airy consistency loved today. Read a book with a predominantly “chocolate cover. Or one which is light and “frothy. If you can find a cover with an actual milkshake on it, so much the better! (6) National Video Games Day: {September 12} Video Games Day celebrates popular video games that stormed onto the market, and changed the way your kids play games. Read a book involving video games or Virtual Reality. Or any book that you think would make a great video game. A little help may be found at Books About Video Games and Virtual Reality and Books that would make great video games.

ITEMS: September’s birthstone is Sapphire. September’s flower is the Morning Glory. Astrological signs: Virgo the Virgin or the Libra with Scales. Other items are: basketball, or baseball, maybe something round or something that represents summer, like a pool.

The Book Jumper by Mechthild Gläser Blue cover
✔︎ The Book Jumper by Mechthild Gläser |★★★| Sep 7

An interesting concept that is a must read for book lovers. I struggled between rating this a three or a four and decided on a three because I think the ending could've been stronger. Overall, it's still a good book and was time well spent.

I should also mention that the audiobook is exceptional. The narrator, Mary Sarah, has an eloquent voice that is very pleasing to the ear. If you have an opportunity to listen to her work, you won't be disappointed!

I read The Iron Duke which has something round on the cover.

I gave it 3 stars because it is a good book, but I thought the world building left a little to be desired so it was a bit confusing to get going with. The romance was pretty solid. Nice Alpha Male," Grrr I want her, I shall have her" He-man style thing going on. But our girl, Mina was not a push- over so it made for a good romance.

The Address by Fiona Davis

4+**** I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am so glad that I gave Fiona Davis another shot. I may actually go back and try to read The Dollhouse again. It took me a minute to get into the story especially with it switching time periods BUT I am so glad that I finished it. I did not see the ending coming!

My 2nd book finished:

Blue Cover: Cherokee Warriors The Lover by Genell Dellin

I can't say that I really cared for this book, mainly because the heroine drove me crazy. There is independent women and then there is this shrewish woman.

Item: Something round (hockey puck)

Beartown by Fredrik Backman

This was my first book by Fredrik Backman. It will not be my last!! It centered around a hockey team but can relate to so many small towns that center around whatever sport/activity that they participate in religiously. Where I'm from its football and band.
