My DH has a garden-athon organised that weekend to remove vegetation off our fenceline in preparation for new fences the following week, so I don't see me being able to sneak away to read too often!
Oh Carolyn - I know what I'd prefer to be doing!!! lol Perhaps you could listen to audiobooks while gardening?

That's a great idea!

Yay Owl, special snacks for intensive reading sessions - I like having savoury things I can just heat up in the oven or microwave, then cut into bite sized pieces. Cold food includes sandwiches cut into neat little triangles. I can snack along without needing to take my eyes off the pages for too long!

Good idea Brenda, but I think I'll need my ears to hear all the instructions sent my way! Will just have to work hard and get time off for good behaviour, and maybe some long tea breaks!

Oh nuts, Carolyn! I don't suppose you could take a sickie?
(I'm still using my handy dandy Aussie dictionary!)

Finger foods are definitely required for this particular situation, Mary!! =o)

Well said Owl - that Aussie dictionary is seeing you right. Sickie is a well known word here ;)

Good use of the Aussie slang Owl! Unfortunately I think my hubby would guess I was faking if I stayed in bed all day reading a book instead of dealing with the jungle in the backyard (there's another one for your Aussie dictionary Owl)- but it does sound tempting! I could take up Brenda's suggestion and hide a book in the loo!

LOL! I knew that dictionary would be useful!

Me too Suzanne. This is my best friend for keeping tabs on my page counts vs percentage read.

Our goal in the last Read-a-thon of 34,500 pages was just passed, so this time it will be 35,000 pages :)
Don't forget our Challenge Guidelines here
Please post your interest here in this thread up until we begin the challenge - when the weekend is over the page numbers read will be tallied:)
If possible, check in at least once a day, more often if you want. Our cut off time for you to add your final totals with a NEW POST will be Monday evening 11th September AEST:)
