message 53: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 539 comments Good morning everyone! Here are my stats for the first day:
I hung out with my niece yesterday so we read a few children's books:

Sammy Spider's First Hanukkah it was 32 pages
Clifford’s Birthday Party also 32 pages
These work for a few different spots. So we can just put them in what ever one works the best.

I also started Odd and the Frost Giants only managed to read 46 pages but that brings my daily page total up to 110 for yesterday!

My recommendation is : The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. It is about a classic film actress and her rise to fame and her scandalous life. I really enjoyed it and read it in about 24hrs because I just needed to keep going!

message 54: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1970 comments Brianna -

I got your audiobook hours updated! Also just posted the status of all the categories to make it easier what we may need.

message 62: by Erica (new)

Erica | 554 comments If I finish Bonk today, I should have time to read Swing Time by Zadie Smith, which will count as a book by a POC.

I also read for an hour straight last night.

message 63: by Erica (new)

Erica | 554 comments Swing Time is also yellow.

message 64: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad ok this is what I came up with

red cover book - Itsy Bitsy Spider (Emma Frost #1) by Willow Rose
yellow cover book - Flame Moon (Flame Moon, #1) by K.J. Jackson
violet cover book - Night of the Purple Moon (The Toucan Trilogy, #1) by Scott Cramer

book by a POC - Once Upon a Sunday by Renee Allen McCoy

I will try and read outside tomorrow
Just let me know what you want me to tackle and I will be all over it

message 65: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad forgot to mention but itsy bitsy spider and the night of the purple moon are also ATY challenge books where I would be able to add to the map not sure if one member can contribute more than one for this category

message 66: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (sgiffin) | 146 comments Hi all,

I can add 1.5 hours of audiobook and 84 physical pages.

My physical reading is going to be slow until Wednesday, but I'll make it up later this week.

message 67: by Joan (last edited Sep 18, 2017 07:31PM) (new)

Joan Barnett | 1970 comments Sadly everything left on my list to read this year is not from a person of color. It looks like Erica might have that covered though.

As soon as I'm done Winter I'll read the short stories that go with it. I have 600 more pages to go with Winter but it is going quickly.

I can try and fit in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets which would give us a book with an article in the title or a YA - whichever we need it for.

message 68: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 539 comments So my stats for today are:
started and finished Footnotes from the World's Greatest Bookstores: True Tales and Lost Moments from Book Buyers, Booksellers, and Book Lovers by Bob Eckstein which we can use for B4 - read a book with an article in the title if we still need to! (page total 144)

Finished Odd and the Frost Giants by Neil Gaiman which was part of my ATY so I added it all 3 maps earlier today. We can use this one for N3 - add 5 books to a map or timeline (page total =59)

Listened to 1hr of my audiobook, Lair of Dreams

page total for day 2 is 203
Running page total for both days is now 313

message 69: by Ira (new)

Ira | 354 comments Hi team. Yesterday got very busy for me, so I didn't manage to read a lot. I finished listening to Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking bySusan Cain, so that is my contribution for the audiobook task.

message 70: by Ira (new)

Ira | 354 comments I can read The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. This can count toward a book by a person of color or a ya book.

message 71: by Erica (new)

Erica | 554 comments I finished Bonk, so non-fiction is done.

message 72: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad ok Ira go for it and I'll read mine and that spot will be done

message 73: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad Erica read swing time for the yellow on the rainbow spot

message 74: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad finished reading Once Upon a Sunday which is written by a person of color.

total 66 pages grand total for me is 399 pages

message 75: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 546 comments Sorry guys - totally passed out and had an early shift this morning. I'll get everything updated within an hour and will be home the rest of the day/night so will read and keep everything updated.

Erica - Swing Time sounds like it'll work for a couple needed categories so if you get a chance, that'd be great!

Debra - Each member can only submit 1 book to a map or timeline for this particular bingo game - sadly.

Joan - If you want to try to fit in Harry Potter you can, but I think the article in the title will be pretty easy to find in other books if you don't get a chance. (It looks like Sarah was able to complete a book for the article in the title so no worries!)

Ira - If you'd like to read The Hate You Give, we can definitely use the help in that category.

Like I said - I'll get categories/page counts/etc. updated here within an hour or so. I'll do another update post with what we have left, but I think we've made good progress so far since it's only day three!

message 76: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 546 comments Also - there was a poem in the book I'm reading - I'll have to google the title, but it's Lord Byron's really famous one (I think) so the poem category is done as well!

message 77: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Brown | 371 comments I am working on Haunted (actually reading right now!) which will fill our series category. I wanted to read a bit more outside, but we are getting Hurricane Jose right now, so it is rainy. Hopefully tomorrow. Just wanted to check in.

Ira | 354 comments Just finished The Call of the Wild by Jack London for the AtY Challenge. My edition is 126 pages. Starting The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.

message 86: by Erica (new)

Erica | 554 comments I haven't listened to any audiobook yet but I will start this afternoon. I'm almost halfway through Swing Time already.

message 87: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) Add another 1 hr 15 min for audiobook for me. That should bring my total to 4 hr 30 min listening time.

message 88: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (sgiffin) | 146 comments Listened to another 1.5 hours hours of The Pillars of the Earth . That should bring my total to 3 hrs.

Gotta finish grading tonight, but tomorrow I get to catch up on physical reading. I think the rest of Cinder will go quickly.

message 89: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad do you want me to read the violet or the red book for this challenge. I don't want to overtake anyone else's plans

message 90: by Brianna (last edited Sep 19, 2017 07:30PM) (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 546 comments I updated the hours/pages listed above in the updates above.

Sarah - Did you want to count any pages from the graphic novel towards G1?

Erica - Sorry about the audiobook mix up! I'm not sure where I pulled that from. lol

Debra - You can read for either one. We can use Cinder for violet when Samantha completes it, but we may be able to use it for red also if you'd rather read your violet book.

Also - those who listen to audiobooks made huge contributions today! Awesome!

message 91: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (bebecburt) | 546 comments I was able to get a good portion through Illuminae tonight. I'm about 75% done and am off work again tomorrow so should be able to wrap it up then. I'm reading for the AtY challenge so even though that category is full, I can at least submit it to a map or timeline.

message 92: by Debra (new)

Debra Barstad Not sure but are we leaving anything for jessica to do or are we just moving on without her? I had contacted her and she said that she had a couple of hectic days and just has not been able to post anything. I'm just worried that if we wait it may become a problem to complete a square at the end.

Sarah | 539 comments Brianna wrote: "I updated the hours/pages listed above in the updates above.

Joan Barnett | 1970 comments I participated in the scrabble and scramble games yesterday. I'm almost at 200 pages. My son's football game is tonight and then tomorrow night is free so should be making more progress tomorrow!

I should be finishing up Friday night. A great book by the way. The series has been a fun read.
