The reason I'm into Supernatural is because I feel that Dean Winchester is my surrogate father. Because when I started watching the show my dad was verbally abusing me. My dad had so much anger when he spoke to me..I never knew how I had gotten him so mad? Anyways it was when I wasn't allowed to watch shows with witches in it, and I caught a glimpse of an episode on tv where Dean and Sam were in Baby driving away from a motel. I saw Dean and I felt as tho he would understand me, and I wanted to watch him. I wanted to get to know him and find out his story. And find out what his views were on family. I felt his personality matched mine because I want to do what's right. I want to make my dad proud. Even tho i did disobey I wanted to defend my dad's decisions and say he knew what was best for me and my younger brother. Everytime Dean spoke to Sam about anything I felt was also directed at me. Then when my parents found out that I was watching Supernatural and tried to convince me I was sinning watching such gory shows I wouldn't listen. Because Dean is my friend, and technically he was forced into his situation being a character and all. I wasn't going to stop watching the show because it was too rough for my parents? Tbh I watched it in my room, so they weren't being exposed to it. And I needed Dean's advice. I needed to know that there is someone out there who can understand me and what I'm going through and still give me advice that made sense. I'll always defend Supernatural. I even have a hand-held bottle opener that when I wear it backwards looks like Dean's ring that he wore on his right hand. I feel more closer to Dean than I do my own parents, and that's why I watch Supernatural.

Dean is the reason I watch the show too, though not for the same reasons as you. He's such a complex, complicated character, but he's very good at deflecting and making himself appear simple and even foolish to others to the point that even Sam sometimes forgets how smart he is.
