Paul Weil is the author of THEMIS, the first part of a five book series that "will take the reader on an adventure into ancient mythology, a fantastic mystery, and deep inside the most unusual family on Earth."

What was your inspiration for Themis?

Inspiration struck me whilst I was training for a long distance running race. The whole 5 book arc arrived unannounced. As soon as I went home I started writing. It took me several years to realize the first book and the other 4 are on their way.

*Why do you think people will enjoy Themis?

Its fantasy built around characters that I hope are relatable. The ideas are big but they come from the desire of individuals to make a difference. Its Utopian writing as opposed to Dystopian.

*What tips do you have for authors that are new to the publishing process?

Learn about marketing. Learn about formatting. Try and get someone to edit and proofread for you, then do it again yourself and again. Believe in yourself, in your book. Keep at it. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

*Did you self-publish your story, or was it professionally published?
Self-published but I’m looking for an agent and publisher so I can focus on writing.

*What is some advice that you have for young, aspiring writers?

Read widely and voraciously. Write as often and as much as you can. Rewrite and rewrite and rewrite.

*Did you ever picture yourself as a published author?
Not until about 6 years ago. Now it’s all I want.

*Was writing always your passion, or did you ever have a different career in mind?
I always dabbled but it wasn’t until I was literally struck by the inspiration that I began to be serious about it.

*What author/story do you look up to and use for ideas/inspiration?
I read widely but as of late I’m reading a lot of John Connolly and Haruki Murakami.

*What do you find to be the most difficult part of the writing process?

Editing and Grammar. I badly need an editor.

*Can we expect some new works from you in the future?
I am currently working on about 4 novels at the same time, a screenplay and short stories, so I’d say yes.
