Andrea | 455 comments I am listening to The Templar Legacy (Cotton Malone #1) by Steve Berry. Many mystery/thriller folks enjoy this author, and I have not read his works yet.

message 152: by Matthias (new)

Matthias Stephan | 169 comments - What are you reading for this category?
I am reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.
- Which letter are you focusing on?
I am not focusing on any letter in particular, although this book has all three in the title. It was a book I have meant to read for years, so figured this was a good opportunity.

message 153: by Di (new)

Di | 10 comments I can't read a book a week, so I have to combine topics, I will be reading The Boy in the Striped Pajamas for the week one and two topic. It fulfills a book with A, T, & Y as well as a book from the first 10 on my want to read shelf. Coincidentally, it also fulfills a topic from the 2018 Pop Sugar Reading Challenge for the Book Made Into a Movie I've Already Seen.

This will be January's book. I'll update what I choose for February. Happy Reading! :)

message 154: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleym99) I read Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. I really enjoyed it and recommend it for anyone looking for a good adventure book. Some of the old english writing can be difficult but there is not a lot and it is not bad once you get used to it.

Meredith (merfy) Katie wrote: "Brand new to this group, but I've been looking for a good challenge. Just finished A Study in Charlotte for this prompt. Fun YA take on the Holmes and Watson story."

I'm new too!!! I've already read my week 1 book - Beyond the Laughing Sky by Michelle Cuevas by Michelle Cuevas - and it was such a beautiful story! Yours sounds good! I'll have to add it to my TBR!

Happy Reading!!!!

message 156: by Erin (new)

Erin Shelley (ekshelley) | 8 comments This is my first time attempting a challenge. I hope to clear out a bunch of my books I have never read or finished reading, so started with The Folly Under the Lake, which I started last year and never finished. It's finished now!

message 157: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (amspivak) | 28 comments This week I read The Only Life I Could Save by Katherine Ketcham. It was a memoir that I received from NetGalley a couple months back, so I figured it worked for the first topic and I was able to submit my review for the publisher/author!

message 158: by Heather (new)

Heather | 236 comments I just finished Harry Takes Off about an hour ago. It was a 185 page ya historical fiction that had me reading at my register while working. I just couldn’t put it down! Now to start week 2 early.

message 159: by Nadine in NY (new)

Nadine in NY Jones | 2264 comments I was surprised how many books on my TBR had all three letters A, T, & Y in the titles! I'm going to be reading The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian because that's been on my TBRNow! list for what feels like forever. Confession: I only recently realized that it's NOT an "absolutely true diary," it's fiction! LOL at myself! Second Confession: it's only last week that I realized "A,T,Y" is Around The Year. it seems so obvious now!!

message 160: by Katrina (new)

Katrina (katrinasreads) I'm already behind with the schedule! I started The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August and was bored so I'm going to pick up Turtles All the Way Down instead as I need to get it back to the library.
I should have a lot more time to read this week as I have 5 evenings home alone.

message 161: by Tracy (last edited Nov 17, 2018 02:59AM) (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments Changed my choice to The Fact of a Body: A Murder and a Memoir, since I have it out from the library and it fits ( with the letters still in order, lol) Getting a little bit of a late start but hoping I can finish it today by some miracle so that I can say I finished week 1 in order. At the moment I’m feeling like this whole challenge is going to be an impossible task. Not feeling so well, having trouble concentrating ( my personal themes for this winter weather) or maybe I’m just a last minute kind of reader lol.

message 162: by Kiki (new)

Kiki Keane (kikikeane) | 2 comments I actually decided to go easy on myself this week and read a manga. I read Fairy Tail.

message 163: by Molly (new)

Molly (bookshelfmystic) | 25 comments I am reading The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable for this week. I received it when I became a manager at work and I figured they wanted me to read it eventually. It fit this prompt, so here we go!

message 166: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Pereira (babitix) | 970 comments I need help in this one.

I'm not a native speaker of the English Language and I'm looking for an easy-reading. And it will better if the book is about 200 pages or less, because it takes me an eternity to finish a book in English.

I am suprised that I didn't find anyone picking Harry Potter series here 🤣. I think about reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, but I'd like to read something different.

I’ve read several books from the Quick Reads programme. It’s designed for people who are less confident reading English, either because it’s their second language or because they don’t read very much. All the books are around 100 pages and the language level is deliberately quite easy. I think there are a few titles that would work for this prompt.

I’m always in awe of anyone who speaks a second language well enough to read fiction in it. I speak a little Spanish but that’s as far as my language skills go!

Thank you so much! I will take a look at this list to see if something fits :D

Reading in English help me to develop my English skill, tha'=t's why I'm always writing in foruns, reading reviews, and also reading books in English.

Last year I read 2 books, The Phantom of the Opera that took me 2 months to finish - but I liked it, and A Man Called Ove a book that I totally disliked. I think I didn't like it because I don't get all the meanings of what was said in the book, so sometimes is better to read more complex books in your language.

But thanks thanks thanks a lot!

Marina, I put a brief description in the books section just now. It is a funny book and good for people like me (American) who bemoan the fact that we have no safety net and pay way too much for our health care. I'm not sure if you would enjoy it. She is mainly trying to figure out what makes Denmark the happiest country in the world but she does a nice job of making fun of herself as she tries to figure out how to adjust to life in Denmark. I'm curious what Danish people think of the book.

message 170: by Angela (new)

Angela | 389 comments What are you reading for this category?
I've been keen to read Mark Twain for a while, so I'm reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain

Which letter are you focusing on?
All of them, I guess...

message 172: by Angie (new)

Angie | 19 comments I had a whole list for this one, but I'm rereading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and I realized all the required letters are in the title. So all my planning aside, I;m using that one.

I'm not really focusing on a particular letter. I wanted a book with all the letters (which was initially how I understood the prompt).

message 173: by Amanda (new)

Amanda I decided to read The Property of a Lady for this challenge. I'm 50 pages in and really enjoying it so far.

message 174: by Heather (new)

Heather (redbayheather) I picked “Feeding My Mother: Comfort and Laughter in the Kitchen as my Mom Lives With Memory Loss by Jann Arden

I used all the letters in one title

message 176: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3766 comments What are you reading for this category? I am planning on reading Morality for Beautiful Girls. I needed a book set in Botswana for a different challenge so this one works for both.

- Which letter are you focusing on? ATY in that order in the first word. I found it quite by accident!

I read that for this challenge as well! It's worth pointing out that while you're correct in that it's fiction, it's actually autobiographical fiction. It's based on Sherman Alexie's own youth growing up on the Spokane reservation and his struggle to grow beyond it. The narrator's initials, Arnold Spirit, are even the reserve of Alexie's. Also, it's just such a beautiful book, I cried my eyes out reading it. I hope you enjoy it!

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments Week number 1 completed with ALL THREE CHALLENGES!!!!!

Mine:The Fact of a Body: A Murder and a Memoir
🌟🌟🌟🌟

Z's middle grade:Fortunately, the Milk
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

K&Z's picture books:A Bean, a Stalk and a Boy Named Jack
🌟🌟🌟

Originally I looked for a book that had the letters ATY in order in the title, but then I ended up not being so interested in my choice. Interesting though, All of these books ended up having the letters in order. Completely unintentional.

The Fact of a Body A Murder and a Memoir by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman A Bean, a Stalk and a Boy Named Jack by William Joyce

Heading over to the A-Z topics......

message 182: by Katrina (new)

Katrina (katrinasreads) So, I ended up reading The Radleys after DNFing two other books for this prompt - I'm trying to read in order and I'm already running late. Hopefully the week 2 prompt will have more success.

message 183: by Kerry (new)

Kerry (euphemy) | 169 comments I read You Are Not a Planet and Other Stories by Sean Manseau It's a collection of short stories which I found hard to follow and not my cup of tea. This was my 2nd book read for the challenge.

message 184: by Christine (new)

Christine (christinem710) I read A Million Worlds with You (Firebird, #3) by Claudia Gray (A Million Worlds With You!) it was much harder to find a book with A, T, and Y in it then I imagined. Coincidentally, it turned out that the letters are in order ;)

I absolutely LOVED this book. And yes, it was very disturbing. So much to debate about. One of my top reads last year. It kind of blew my mind......I thought it was heartbreaking and I kind of fell in love with the characters but was so uncomfortable with it and then uncomfortable with myself because I was rooting for them, if that makes sense? The title is so perfect. It is definitely ugly AND wonderful.

message 188: by Agata (new)

Agata | 10 comments I've just read The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August and although I was very skeptical about it before I started reading, it was amazing ;)

message 190: by Chris (new)

Chris (sharedumbrella) | 26 comments I went with Forbidden Monastery by Sam C. Leonhard for this prompt. It was one of only two books on my TBR list that contained all of the letters for this prompt (the other being Battle Royale by Koushun Takami) - both coincidentally have the letters A, T, Y in order. It was an easy choice to make when I realised that the latter also contains a map, so I'll be saving it for Prompt #24. (:

message 191: by Laura (new)

Laura (texas318) | 104 comments - What are you reading for this category?
The Player by Denise Grover Swank

- Which letter are you focusing on?
I am not really focusing on any of the letters. I was going to read this book for another challenge and it happened to have A, T, & Y in the title.

Harry Potter A Journey Through A History of Magic by British Library

message 195: by Veronica (new)
