Ruth | 118 comments Well I enjoyed the 2017 challenge so I'm going to have a go again in 2018. As my plan changed quite a lot last time I'm only going to plan for the first 10 weeks.

1. A book with the letters A, T & Y in the title Saturday
2. A book from the first 10 books of your To Be Read list La casa de los espíritus
3. A book from the 2017 Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Choice Awards Exit West
4. 4 books linked by the 4 elements: Book #1 Earth Letters from the Earth: Uncensored Writings
5. A book about or inspired by real events Understanding Eritrea: Inside Africa's Most Repressive State
6. A book originally written in a language other than English The Blue Fox
7. A gothic novel Seven Gothic Tales
8. An "own voices" book* I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban
9. A book with a body part in the title (heart, bones, teeth, skin, blood, etc) Bone Ash Sky
10. An author's debut book (their first book to be published) Things Fall Apart

Ruth | 118 comments January's books: I actually stuck to my plan for the first 4 weeks (with the addition of a second book for week 4 as the first one was very short)
1. A book with the letters A, T & Y in the title Saturday
2. A book from the first 10 books of your TBR list La casa de los espíritus
3. A book from the 2017 Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Choice Awards Exit West
4. 4 books linked by the 4 elements: Letters from the Earth and Earth from the Air: Children's Edition

February's books: I've changed my week 5 read as I haven't been able to get hold of Understanding Eritrea: Inside Africa's Most Repressive State and instead I've just read El pintor de batallas (The Painter of Battles) and I'm changing my choice for week 7, I'll be reading Frankenstein as I heard extracts from a new biography of Mary Shelley on BBC Radio 4 which I've since read for my week 52 choice a book published in 2018 In Search of Mary Shelley: The Girl Who Wrote Frankenstein.

Ruth | 118 comments End of February update I've read: -

8: An own voices book I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban
7: A gothic novel Frankenstein
6: A book originally written in a language other than English The Blue Fox (Skugga-Baldur)
5: A book about or inspired by real events El pintor de batallas

I've read ahead for some categories but I'll add them in order as the year progresses.

Kelly Audiogirl.booking.it (audiogirlbookingit) | 488 comments Did you like I am Malala? I felt so guilty that I didn't like it. I wanted to like it she was so brave and a trailblazer for women of her country. But I found the writing to be really boring and not as insightful as I was looking for. Wish she would have waited until she was a little older to write the book but I really do respect her as a person and her drive to encourage others!
