Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Date read: 12.1.18
Rating: 5 stars
How it fits: Fire in cover, burned books, how couldn't it fit?
Review in spanish
Pages: 182
What can I say?
It was difficult reading this book, don't get me wrong, I loved it, but it makes you think: where are we heading to?
Maybe our leaders are like the ones in Montag's country, with all the trash tv programs, keeping us in the ignorance, maybe we'll be conformists like Mildred eventually.
I like to think that we're better than that, that most of us can still think by ourselves.
Lets not become empty heads, we mustn't lose our hability to talk about the important things.

Sólo escucha by Sarah Dessen

What can I say?
I was looking for an easy, light weighted book, this one, kind of fullfiled my expectations.
It was mainly a fun book, but it has a tough topic inside, wich is(view spoiler) , and I believe, being it a YA book, the topic was pretty well handled, because it showed different aspects of it, the brave victims and the ones who believe are their fault or that they are ashamed of what happen and do not know exactly what to do.
I enjoyed the characters quite a bit, I was not dissapointed from them as I usually am with YA books.
It was a good reading.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

La Sombra de Fuego. El último vuelo del teniente Bello by Alberto Rojas
Date read: 28.1.18
Rating: 4.5 stars
How it fits: it narrates what could've happened if Chile had been losing the War of the Pacific in 1881
Review in spanish
Pages: 466
What can I say?
I wanted to read this book for a long time and I finally got to it.
It was fantastic, really exciting, it's set in the War of the Pacific, a much known historical fact in Chile, but it's a sci-fi book, because it brings Lieutenant Bello who went missing in 1914 when he was at his pilot exam. In La Sombra de Fuego, Lieutenant Bello comes from the future back to 1881 when the War of the Pacific was happening and in that reality Chile is losing, so Bello is the one to reverse the situation thanks to his airplane.
It is a story full of action, with intrigues and battles, also is a sci-fi and steampunk novel, that makes it pretty interesnting.

Del material del que están hechos los sueños by Elizabeth Eulberg

What can I say?
I really enjoyed this book, it was a fun read, like watching a tv movie about a music conservatory (and I love those hahaha).
And it's a beautiful story too, the development the characters have (except for Sophie of course) is amazing, how they grow up and they find they way to life, I just loved it.

La reina maldita by Sarah Fine
Date read: 8.2.18
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: MC with different sexual identity than my own
Review in spanish
Pages: 477
What can I say?
I looove fantasy books, and this series has reminded my of that =)
I was mostly confused during this book, I didn't know who to trust, except for Kauko, I knew I shouldn0t trust him, but only because I knew him from the previous book hahaha.
Ansa, the MC, was so insecure and that made me mad, I wanted her to be a strong MC, to honor her power, but also, I can't blame her, she hadn't had a true identity, and she had to find herself.
I was a exciting book to read, kind of a page turner.

A de Amor by David Levithan
Date read: 15.2.18
Rating: 3 stars
How it fits: Written as a dictionary
Review in spanish
Pages: 217
What can I say?
It's not my type of book, but I enjoyed it mostly.
I couldn't relate to all of it, because it talked about infidelity.
But I laugh at some parts and also liked some cute parts.

Thank you! I'm trying to keep my pace, I hope to complete the challenge =P

Bajo la misma estrella by John Green
Date read: 17.2.18
Rating: 3 stars
How it fits: Part of the List
Review in spanish
Pages: 304
What can I say?
Almost everybody know what this book is about. Even I was spoiled about the ending.
However, I liked it more than I thought I would. It's a sweet romance, it has really sad parts (I almost cried in the final chapters, almost).
I also thought it was really predictable, specially the thing about the author of the book the characters love.
Finally, the humor was great, I laugh so much more than I though I would. I'm thinking about watching the movie.

Voces de Chernóbil: Crónica del futuro by Svetlana Alexievich
Date read: 4.3.18
Rating: 5 stars
How it fits: Inspired on Chernobyl nuclear disaster
Review in spanish
Pages: 408
What can I say?
It was both shocking and revealing reading this book.I've been interested in the Chernobyl topic since I first heard about it years ago.
I always thought that nobody lived there after the accident, and this book showed me how far from the truth I was.
It was shocking to read how everything was hidden from the citizens, how poorly was the problem managed. It specially shocked me how powerless the people, the scientists, were.
It's an amazing book, a 100% recommended.

I liked that too, it focused on the people, that was refreshing, also it made it feel more real/closest or relatable, I'm not sure how to express it.

Criadas y Señoras by Kathryn Stockett
Date read: 14.3.18
Rating: 5 stars
How it fits: Kathryn Stockett's debut
Review in spanish
Pages: 480
What can I say?
It was addictive reading this book, I read everytime I had the time.
It was eye opening and at the same time it was really fun. I loved the relationships between the characters and how we got to know their lives, their worries and their personalities.
It made me angry at times, specially when it came to Hilly, that woman was despicable.
I loved Aibileen, and Minny's dynamics with Celia Foote, I loved how Skeeter grows as a character.
I know this book is fiction, and it may not be that accurate about the lifes of the people of color in places like Mississipi back in the 60´s, but it makes you think either way, it makes you question yourself, How would I react at the injustice like what happened to Yule May or to Aibileen at the end?
I don't know, I'm not even from the USA, but anyways it hit me

El PrÃncipe Caspian by C.S. Lewis
Date read: 17.3.18
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: Rated 5 stars by MarÃa Paz
Review in spanish
Pages: 237
What can I say?
I loved being back in Narnia.
I love these books since I was 11 and read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Narnia is a beautiful world, with amazing characters. Its generally a great story.
I enjoy the narration, specially because the author tends to speak to the reader directly, I find that amusing.
In this book, the part I enjoy the most is when Narnia starts to wake up, when the spirits of the trees come to life. And also I really like Edmund's attitude in this book, it shows how much he's grown since the last one.
Of course everybody should read The Chronicles of Narnia =)

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Date Read: 20.3.2018
Rating: 5 stars
How it fits: tagged as own-voices 190 times
Pages: Audio (444)
What can I say?
This book was awesome, so strong and shocking.
I had not read something like this before. I know that police brutality is a fact, it happens here in Chile too, just recently we had a similar situation where the police killed a (indigenous people native from Chile) just because they thought I robbed a car, there were lots of bullets and the mapuche did not have a gun, he was shot multiple times in the back.
So I believe it's an important read, and I think that even if it's not exactly our reality, we can see (sadly) similar situations in every country.
About the book, I loved the relationships between the characters. Frecuently in YA books, family is not a good factor, parents aren't present in the life of the protagonists or they don't seem to care about their children and that makes me so mad! I tend to dislike YA contemporary books because of that. But THUG was another story, Starr parents are awesome, her uncle is too, they're there for her all the way and I really enjoyed that.
Also I listened to the audiobook and it was incredible, the narrator made a really great (perfect) work, I was so into the story all the time, it was my first audiobook ever and I cant recommend it more.
This will be a favorite forever.

Parque Jurásico by Michael Crichton
Date Read: 22.3.2018
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: the story is connecter to gene editing (word from 1990)
Review in spanish
Pages: 365
What can I say?
Jurassic Park is a movie I have watched all my life, it came out when I was 3 y-o and I still remember watching all the movies with my dad, so when I learned it was a book I had to read it.
Luckily my public library had it as an ebook.
This book is sooooo thrilling, I'm not sure waht word to use, but i kept me at the edge of my chair almost all the time. It is pretty interesting too al the science part is partly based on real papers and the authors are cited in the acknowledgements.
Michael Crichton did a great work and I'm eager to read more of his books.

El Signo de los Cuatro by Arthur Conan Doyle
Date Read: 23.3.2018
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: Greed is an important part of the story
Review in spanish
Pages: 162
What can I say?
I belive that the most entertaining part of reading a Sherlock Holmes book isn't the resolution of the mystery itself, but reading how Sherlock gets to it.
This was a fun book and an easy read.

Alma by MatÃas Correa

What can I say?
It is a nicely written book, but the story wasn't interesting or entertaining enough, I thought it was an anticlimactic book
