Following is from the February meeting, where we discussed This is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel.

"We had an Interesting discussion yesterday (2/17/18) and, overall, I think everyone agreed it was a book worth reading. Article in the paper today about a judge who ruled in favor of transgender surgery for a 17 year old boy from Ohio arguing with parents who refuse surgery and believe he should, instead, be involved in church counseling.

Hidden Figures The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly Hidden Figures The Untold True Story of Four African-American Women Who Helped Launch Our Nation into Space by Margot Lee Shetterly

"The March book is Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race (368 pages) or Hidden Figures: The Untold True Story of Four African-American Women Who Helped Launch Our Nation into Space (240 pages, special edition for young readers) by Margot Lee Shetterly. The movie is so terrific and was on HBO last night.

"Here are a few books recommended to me: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng and Grist Mill Road by Christopher J. Yates. Anyone read any?"

"Great to see everyone and those who could not attend were missed. No location was decided for next month book club."
