Hi, everyone!

Thought it'd be fun for everyone to share one or two (or three) of their favorite reads so far this year. I'm sure we could all benefit from adding even more books to our TBR piles, lol.

So tell us! What's been your top reads of 2014 so far?

Kim (secretmagic) | 152 comments Way to make it hard, Jen!

Ok, my faves for this year (so far)
1. Moon Called - Patricia Briggs
2. Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn
3. Landline - Rainbow Rowell

And this last one hasn't been released yet (and I haven't actually added it to my 'read' list) - but I LOVED it so much!!
4. The Walled City - Ryan Graudin

Nanci | 62 comments So far this year, some of my favorites have been:

Steelheart Steelheart (Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson
Brandon Sanderson is a favorite as far as authors go!
These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1) by Amie Kaufman These Broken Stars Loved this futuristic sci-fi. Bonus: No love triangle.
Lost Lake Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen Just a nice relaxing and entertaining read.
Ruins (Partials Sequence, #3) by Dan Wells Ruins I loved this ending to the Partials series. This whole series is definitely worth a read if you like dystopian or futuristic sci-fi.

I also really had a fun time reading Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein

and
Life in Outer Space by Melissa Keil Life in Outer Space

Sorry if that is too many.

It's so hard to narrow down, isn't it? I just got Landline this week and can't wait to read it! And Gone Girl....I don't know. I've been blowing it off, but maybe I should pick it up? We have similar likes. *cough*MARC RAMOS*cough*

EEEEE! I loved These Broken Stars, too! I got Steelheart for Christmas and STILL haven't gotten to it. *sigh* I really want to read the Partial series, too. So many books, so little time. :) Great list!

Kim (secretmagic) | 152 comments JEN:

Landline is my FAVOURITE Rainbow book. I adored it.

I was a bit hesitant with Gone Girl too - I'm not really a big Crime reader. And even less of an "adult" reader (although this year, I've moved out of my comfort zone...I blame work) But I was surprised by how much I loved Gone Girl. It is so twisted!

Erin (erin_schultz) | 102 comments Ahh! This is difficult! LOL

Here are a few of my favorites from this year:

Favorite series: Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent. I listened to the whole series on audio early this year. Loved it!

Favorite adult novel: Lady of Milkweed Manor by Julie Klassen

Favorite YA novels: (because I couldn't pick just one...) Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo and Sex & Violence by Carrie Mesrobian

Favorite audiobook: Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson

Favorite novella: Night of Cake & Puppets by Laini Taylor

1... Nash by Jay Crownover (He ranks my favorite under Rule)

2. Rule (same as above)

3. Better when he's bad (Welcome to the Point #1) (same author)

message 13: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (crowshollow) Hands down the best I have read (and these are my second go rounds on all but 1 of these books) are
The Hunger Games
Mockingjay
Catching Fire
and
The Discovery of Witches
Shadow of Night
The Book of Life

message 14: by Lyssa (new)

Lyssa | 105 comments Trying all kinds of things outside of my usual genres, so not a lot of standouts, really. The two that do are:

Skin Game - loving Harry Dresden. I've always had a fondness for snark and bad jokes and they're here in spades amongst the magic and mayhem.

The Shining Girls - time travel murder mystery! This was unique. Hadn't seen a plot like this before. Some things just have to be accepted without explanation, but I enjoyed it.

Still waiting for The Book of Life, but I'm 3rd on the hold list at the library... sigh.
