Joelle Crawley The Two Towers: Part II by J.R.R. Tolkien is a story that will pull on readers heartstrings� as they ride along with the adventure of hobbits named Frodo Baggins and Sam Gamgee. The best friends are put to the test when they take on the mission of destroying the dangerous Ring that the evil wizard Saruman is trying to obtain. The hobbits travel across vast lands searching for The Black Gate of Mordor, the only place that the Ring can be destroyed. Sam is Frodo’s most loyal friend and will do anything to protect him. Anyone reading this book will feel the love radiating off Sam and feel Sam’s heart ache when Frodo is in trouble. Tolkien adds conflict to the plot, throwing curveballs at Frodo that cause him to struggle. Frodo must toughen up with the help of Sam to finish his life depending task. Tolkien helps people reading this book see inside the story using a heavy amount of imagery. Tolkien describes the lands that the hobbits travel through in great detail and has readers feeling that they are in the book with the hobbits. People of all ages would enjoy this breathtaking story that shares a beautiful tale of two friends. Readers will hold their breath while reading the narrow escapes that Sam and Frodo make, laugh at Sam’s snarky comments, and tear up when the hobbits are facing their worst nightmare- losing each other.
