Rayne (raynelanfier) I’m looking for hate to love, alpha male adult fantasy romance with a decent story and written like Jim butcher or Brandon Sanderson. I love when the males are cranky and fight their feelings, yet they do some cute stuff... I think I’m a bit demanding since usually I find a story featuring on or the other but almost never the totality of what I look for. I have read almost everything in urban fantasy PnR you can find, from Andrews and Briggs to Eileen wilks. I’ve also tempted some erotica... but Lordy most of it is horribly written, has no decent story or is YA which I really don’t like... I’m not into kids pranks, a la corrupt. Certainly no 500 shades of purple grey... my favourite males are baron, Lord Mzatal, Eric Dalton and Lord Akkarin ( only YA char I liked) help?

Robin (rockin_robin) | 81 comments I didn't see The Redemption of Althalus by David Eddings in your library. It's not a big romance --there's hints, but it's mostly a fantasy adventure. The main character, Athalus, is kind of an anti -hero type ( the book is about his redemption so he starts out less than a good guy ). Dennis McKiernan is another author you might enjoy --his books are similar to Eddings where there might be light romance but adventure is the primary focus.

As far as hate-to-love heroes in romance, my first thought would be Jacqueline Franks' Nightwalker series. Jacob (Nightwalkers, #1) by Jacquelyn Frank

Other authors I've enjoyed: Eve Langlais has some in PNR --her new series is called Bad Boy, Inc.( it's contemporary, not PNR, though ). Her writing is hit or miss with me, but there are some fun stories in the mix. Terry Spear also does good PNR romance, but not many are the hate-to-love type character.
