Hello everyone! I saw via Abigail's tweet minutes earlier that you all have formed a group and you have no idea HOW EXCITED I AM! :D I had been searching around the wide world of internet to share my passion of history, books and of course Timeless!

Anyway! I'm here to ask you all if you know any good books that can feed my obsession for a little bit while we wait to hear the word of S3. I generally prefer YA books but I'm perfectly ok with everything else.

originally published in 1958. Still a good read. Isn't about time travel but a good period piece.

Seems like a wonderful idea! It will get me to go back to good reads which I haven’t been paying much attention to for a while!

The Outlander series is wonderful! It's about a woman from 1945 who travels back to the early 1700s of Scotland! Absolutely amazing!

I haven't read this myself, but I saw a post on, I think a facebook Timeless page, about one called, "When you reach me" by Rebecca Stead. She said she was a teacher and her kids loved it, and so did she, even though it was YA. I have it in my amazon cart, just haven't ordered it yet. It might be something you'd want to check out.

Lynn Kurland has a couple of good series about The MacLeods and The De Piagets, that are time travel and romance. Most go back and forth between modern day and somewhere around 13th or 14th century Scotland. It's been a little while since I've read them, so I'm not positive about the century, but I just remember how much I loved them, and couldn't get enough. I think I may go back and re- read them now!

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken is a fantastic time travel book about a girl who discovers she's a member of a time-travelling family very late in the game and must learn all about time travel while fighting to find her mother and navigate the politics of the other time-travelling families. Shades of Timeless...plus a great love story! There's a sequel, too - Wayfarer. YA books, technically, but I really loved them.

I added a Book Shelf for Time Travel related novels!

I just added Sound of Thunder and the Time Machine. They really started the whole genre.

In addition to suggestions I added to the Books for Kids thread (/topic/show/...), a few of my other favorite time travel novels are:

- the Oxford Time Travel series by Connie Willis (Doomsday Book, To Say Nothing of the Dog, Blackout, and All Clear)
- Jack Finney's Time And Again and From Time to Time
- Timeline

If you like short fiction, Jack Finney also has some collections that include travel stories or stories that feel similar (About Time: 12 Short Stories and Three by Finney: The Woodrow Wilson Dime / The Night People / Marion's Wall)

But it really started with Time at the Top with me. Elevators, smallpox, and buried treasure? I wore my copy out with rereads.

I added The Time Traveler's Wife to the bookshelf.

I agree wholeheartedly with Natasha’s suggestions of books by Jack Finney and Connie Willis....and including Time at the Top (loved loved loved that book!)

I would only add Kage Baker’s “company�� series (9 volumes starting with “In the Garden of Iden,�� plus several short story compilations). This series examines a secret company that uses time travel (and an army of cyborgs) to control the world (shades of Rittenhouse!). Baker is a great storyteller who deserves a wider following, but unfortunately she passed away not long ago in her prime writing years.

Ooohhh! I love 14th-century histories! I'll have to read them! :)

P.S. I just cleaned my bookshelf and I found three books that I read when I was in my teens, Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue & Emerald Green. What I remembered reading the story was that they're similar to Timeless, but instead it took place in London and I don't think the secret society, that mentioned in the story, was trying to manipulate history. I'll have to reread them since it too long ago...

How do you get to “the bookshelf��. I’ve never really used the app until now. I want to look at the time travel book suggestions. Group members said they put them on the bookshelf. Maybe I am too short to reach the shelf?😉

I am enjoying "The Chronicles of St. Mary's" series by Jodi Taylor. It has been a great summer read so far. Light fiction-good for the beach or pool.

If only. The app doesn't give you access to the bookshelf in groups. It's a known issue. :( Log in to the full website to see the bookshelf.

One of the best! A very different approach to fate vs free will than Timeless.

Another really good time travel novel is 11/22/63 by Stephen King. Actually, it's the only Stephen King book I've ever read! Present day man finds a portal to the past, decides to prevent the assassination of JFK. I think they made it into a tv show, which I have not seen.

I've read the Connie Willis series. My favorite (and I think her best) was the one dealing with the plague. (it's been ages since I read this) I devoured the series on the Blitz, although I had a lot of criticism about those particular novels, even commenting on GR about the series.

I can recommend "Time after Time" by Karl Alexander...also made into a great movie.

Smithsonian Magazine just published this article online with links to various time travel/alternative history novels if anyone is interested.

I read Green Darkness in college and just loaned it to a coworker. She's said it reminds her a lot of Outlander and she's really enjoying it.
